摘要: Reflected light can be effectively utilized by increasing a light receiving area. Incremental light receiving element groups are separated and arranged in the circumferential direction of a rotating unit while placing a light source therebetween. First and second absolute light receiving element groups are arranged at both sides of the outside and inside of the light source in the radial direction of the rotating unit. As a result, first and second absolute light receiving elements are continuously arranged, and also the incremental light receiving element groups and the absolute light receiving element groups can be arranged to surround the periphery of the light source from four directions.

摘要: A steering system includes: a steering wheel; a steering wheel sensor configured to detect an operation angle of the steering wheel; an actuator configured to turn an outboard engine; a plurality of turn angle sensors including a first turn angle sensor configured to detect a turn angle; and a control unit configured to calculate a controlling turn angle, and to drive the actuator to turn the outboard engine in accordance with a difference between the controlling turn angle and the turn angle. If an anomaly of the first turn angle sensor is detected, the control unit continues to drive the actuator based on information from a second turn angle sensor in a normal state, and drives the actuator so as to limit the turn angle of the outboard engine as compared with a case in which the first turn angle sensor is in a normal state.

摘要: A light beam is directed upon a retroreflective element, located adjacent the pertinent portion of the patient''s body and is reflected upon a photocell or some other photoresponsive means. If there is any appreciable change in the patient''s position, the signal from the photocell will change. The changed signal can be employed to perform a control function, such as actuating a warning device, or terminating the diagnostic or therapeutic procedure, so that the radiation will not be misdirected. The light beam is preferably produced by an optical system comprising a lamp, an apertured member to produce a small spot of light, a partially light-transmitting mirror, and a lens for focusing the beam upon the retroreflective element. The reflected beam is preferably focused by the lens through the mirror and upon the photocell. The retroreflective element is preferably in the form of a small piece of retroreflective adhesive tape, to be stuck to or adjacent to the patient''s body.
