Abstract: A regeneration solvent comprised of one or more ethylene amines may contact an adsorbent bed that has been used to remove sulfur compounds from a hydrocarbon stream to extract adsorbed sulfur compounds from the adsorbent material in the bed to regenerate it. The one or more ethyleneamines may have structure (I), (II), or (III): where R1, R2, R5 and R6 are, to the extent chemically possible, independently H, C1-C4 linear or branched alkyl, amido (RRNC═O), or hydroxyalkyl, where each R in the amido group is independently H or C1 alkyl, where R3 and R4 are alkylene of from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, where x ranges from 0 to 3, y ranges from 1 to 6. The regenerated adsorbent bed may be reused, either alone or in combination with a liquid-liquid extraction column, to remove sulfur compounds from a hydrocarbon stream.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method for removing antimicrobial material from a composition includes providing a container that contains a plurality of carbon elements such as granules, rocks and sheets. The carbon elements are submerged with a liquid and a composition that includes an antimicrobial material is deposited in the container. The carbon elements are configured to remove the antimicrobial material from the composition. The level of the liquid in the container is monitored and controlled to maintain a submerged condition of the carbon elements.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for removing factor XI (FXI) during plasma protein purification, more specifically a method for removing FXI including dialyzing and concentrating a plasma protein fraction II paste containing FXI and a plasma protein, and then removing the FXI using a ceramic-based cation exchange resin. The method for removing factor XI (FXI) can improve removal efficiency of impurities and thrombogenic substances, thereby producing stable plasma proteins with improved quality.

Abstract: Provided herein are methods of reducing bioburden of (e.g., sterilizing) a chromatography resin that include exposing a container including a composition including a chromatography resin and at least one antioxidant agent and/or chelator to a dose of gamma-irradiation sufficient to reduce the bioburden of the container and the chromatography resin, where the at least one antioxidant agent and/or chelator are present in an amount sufficient to ameliorate the loss of binding capacity of the chromatography resin after/upon exposure to the dose of gamma-irradiation. Also provided are reduced bioburden chromatography columns including the reduced bioburden chromatography resin, compositions including a chromatography resin and at least one chelator and/or antioxidant agent, methods of performing reduced bioburden column chromatography using one of these reduced bioburden chromatography columns, and integrated, closed, and continuous processes for reduced bioburden manufacturing of a purified recombinant protein.

Abstract: A system and method for removing undesirable organic compounds so that the desirable cannabinoids, terpenes, and any other beneficial organic compounds can be easily and effectively captured is provided herein. The system and method makes use of bentonite clay, silica gel and magnesium silicate filters through which a solution containing the organic compounds is rinsed with liquid non-polar solvent. The undesirable components remain in the bentonite clay, silica gel and magnesium silicate while the beneficial organic compounds pass through and are collected in a liquid solution.
