Abstract:
The invention relates to biodegradable hot-melt adhesive compositions, preferably without residual tackiness at room temperature and having a biodegradability, as measured by the released carbon-dioxide analysis method pursuant to Standard EN ISO 14855, that is higher than 55% , preferably higher than 60% , and preferably higher than 90% , and to the use thereof. This percentage is given by reference with the cellulose biodegradability measurement, which amounts to 100% in the same conditions.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a new type of polyolefin based hot-melt adhesive and methods for their production. More particularly, it relates to a new type of hot-melt adhesive comprising propylene co-polymers and possessing a favorable balance of cohesive strength, adhesion properties, and processibility, which render them especially well-suited for some hot-melt adhesive applications, for example, as elastic attachment adhesives.
Abstract:
The invention provides a hot melt adhesive composition including a tubular reactor copolymer of ethylene and 5 to 20 mol % of comonomer units derived from an alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate, wherein the copolymer has a melt index of at least 300 g/10 min. The alkyl group of the alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate can be a linear or branched C1 to C12 group, particularly n-butyl. If desired, the hot melt adhesive can further include tackifiers, waxes, antioxidants and other desired additives. The hot melt adhesive composition shows improved heat resistance and favorable properties, such as has a shear adhesion fail temperature of at least 80° C., without the need to use high melting waxes. The invention further provides articles such as cartons, cases, trays, bookbindings or disposables including the hot melt adhesive compositions.
Abstract:
Acrylic based adhesives and constructions are described and claimed. The adhesives comprise on a copolymerized basis, (A) from about 50 to about 90% by weight of at least one alkyl acrylate, alkyl methacrylate, and mixtures thereof, wherein the alkyl group contains at least four carbon atoms, (B) from about 10% to about 30% by weight of at least one ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride monomer, and (C) from about 0 to about 40% by weight of a monoethylenically unsaturated comonomer selected from styrene and substituted styrenes; alkyl acrylates and alkyl methacrylates containing less than 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl group; vinyl acetate; N-vinyl lactams; acrylonitrile; glycidyl containing monomers; hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl and phenoxyalkyl acrylates and methacrylates wherein the hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl and phenoxyalkyl groups contain from 2 to about 12 carbon atoms in the alkyl groups and from 1 to about 6 carbon atoms in the alkoxy groups; cyclic and heterocylic acrylates and methacrylates; and mixtures of two or more thereof. The acrylic based adhesives of the invention exhibit desirable sound/vibration damping properties.
Abstract:
Pressure sensitive adhesive compositions that exhibit sound/vibration dampening properties are provided. The pressure sensitive adhesive composition can be tailored to provide sound/vibration dampening within a desired temperature range at a specified frequency.
Abstract:
A high damping elastomer composition that has a high damping capability and is superior in the temperature dependency of rigidity. The high damping elastomer composition has at least one styrene block polymer as a main component. The ratio of a diblock component in the overall styrene block polymer is in the range of 50 to 95 wt. %.
Abstract:
Disclosed are thermoplastic compositions comprising partially or fully neutralized carboxylic acid-based ionomers modified with rosin or rosin derivatives and, optionally, organic acids and salts thereof. Methods of preparing the thermoplastic compositions are also provided. The thermoplastic compositions exhibit higher hardness and stiffness than typical ionomer compositions. Also disclosed are golf balls, sporting equipment, and other non-sport articles comprising said thermoplastic compositions and methods for their preparation.
Abstract:
By addition of a polyamide resin, which is compatible with rosin-based resins as the main components of liquid flux and solder paste flux, which is resistant to temperature variation and provides a damp proofing effect, and particularly a polyamide resin which is obtained by polycondensation reaction of a dicarboxylic acid of 2 to 21 carbon atoms and a diamine and has a softening point of 80.degree. to 150.degree. C., or a polyamide resin which is obtained by polycondensation reaction of a dimer acid and a diamine and has a softening point of 80.degree. to 150.degree. C., highly reliable low-viscosity liquid fluxes and solder paste fluxes, with which solderability is not impaired, where the flux residues on printed circuit boards after soldering undergoes no cracking or deterioration even under temperature variation, and which prevent poor insulation and migration even under high humidity environment, are provided.
