摘要: A method includes a step of identifying a subject in need of diet modification; and administering a first diet to the subject for a first time period. The first diet provides 4.5 to 7 kilocalories per pound of subject for a first day and 3 to 5 kilocalories per pound of subject per day for a second to fifth day of the first diet. The first diet includes less than 30 g of sugar on the first day; less than 20 g of sugar on the second to fifth days; less than 28 g of proteins on the first day; less than 18 g of proteins on days the second to fifth days; 20 to 30 grams of monounsaturated fats on the first day; 10 to 15 grams of monounsaturated fats on the second to fifth days; and between 6 and 10 grams of polyunsaturated fats on the first day.

摘要: Liquid nutritional compositions include functional ingredients such as beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate, docosahexaenoic acid, and lutein. The nutritional compositions are useful to promote at least one of physical performance (e.g., body composition, muscle mass, muscle strength) and cognitive function (e.g., focus, attention, alertness, executive function) in an individual. The functional ingredients are incorporated into the nutritional composition in such a way that they do not adversely affect the desirable properties of the nutritional composition such as, for example, nutritional value, stability, solubility, taste, and mouthfeel.

摘要: Disclosed is a prebiotic composition comprising a combination of 2′fucosyllactose (2′FL) and isomaltooligosaccharide (IMO). The 2′FL and IMO are present in the prebiotic composition in a weight ratio of from 1:1 to 1:10. The prebiotic composition is effective for use in methods of preventing and/or treating a gastrointestinal (GI) condition in an animal, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease(s) (IBD), Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis (UC). A foodstuff or beverage, a medical food, a nutritional composition, and a kit presentation, each including the prebiotic composition, and each suitable for use in methods of reducing or suppressing inflammation in an animalian tract, are also disclosed. A method of using the prebiotic composition to prevent and/or treat a GI condition in an animal is further disclosed. The method comprises administering the prebiotic composition to the animal.

摘要: An improved manufacturing process produces microcrystalline hydroxyapatite with sustained gradual calcium release that avoids spiking in blood calcium levels. Although the improved material did not cause significant elevation of blood calcium, it was just as effective in promoting bone mineralization as conventional calcium supplements. In addition, the material has much higher levels of bone growth factors as compared to prior hydroxyapatite products.

摘要: Provided herein are compositions, articles of manufacture, food products, and methods for treating certain conditions, such as fibrotic disease (e.g., asthma). For example, in certain embodiments, provided herein are food products (e.g., that are ketogenic) that contain high levels (e.g., at least 10% by weight of the food product) of capric acid (C10), myristic acid (C14), or combination thereof (e.g., as free fatty acids or as triglycerides). In other embodiments, methods are provided for receiving an order for such a food product, and shipping the food product to a subject with fibrotic disease (e.g., after receiving or verifying prescription information). In some embodiments, methods are provided of administering or providing a composition to a subject such that the subject receives at least 50 grams per day (e.g., 200 grams per day), on multiple days, of capric acid (C10), myristic acid (C14), or combination thereof.
