    摘要: A storage bin constructed entirely from hollow thick walled cylindrical paperboard cores has upright cylindrical corner posts connected to a floor and to side walls in the form of a series of slats. The floor includes runners which are hollow cylindrical cores having notches extending transversely through the periphery and has deck members in the form of elongated segments cut from other cylindrical cores, the deck members being positioned within aligned notches in the runners. The side wall slats also are elongated segments cut from cylindrical cores and are positioned within slots cut in the posts, the slats extending between adjacent posts. The floor runners and the posts are connected together by bifurcating the ends of each runner into a pair of legs which are slidably inserted into notches cut in the post, a locking tab being positioned through both the bifurcated legs and the center of the post. A vertically extending elongated locking strip is positioned within the hollow of one of the posts to preclude inadvertent removal of the side slats after they have been positioned through the slots in the posts.

    摘要: This disclosure provides an article of manufacture for supporting a load. The article can be employed to store a load under static conditions for an extended period of time, and can also serve as a platform for supporting the stored load while the load is being lifted from one location and transported to and placed in another location. The article is comprised of a plurality of separate planar elements which are releasably, but rigidly, connected each to the other to facilitate transport, assembly, repair and replacement of the parts. In one aspect, the article is comprised of a load contacting component featuring a structural system comprised of ribs located in one of the said planar elements inserted into and stabilized by slots located in another of the said planar elements. In another aspect, the load contacting component can be releasably attached to another of the said planar elements to form a rackable pallet capable of supporting a load in an open rack drive-through storage system.

    摘要: A container incorporating post-consumer recycled (nullPCRnull) plastic and a method of making that type of container. The container utilizes a layer of polypropylene or EVOH or a film of fluorinated polyethylene toward the interior from the recycled plastic to prevent contaminants from the latter entering the container's contents. When utilizing EVOH, the container usually has an additional layer of polyethylene or polypropylene covering the EVOH to prevent its deterioration by moisture. Making the container involves first composing a resin including the recycled plastic. Forming the various layers listed above produces a container that includes recycled plastic and a barrier to limit the migration of contaminants from the recycled material to the container's contents. This permits the use of the resulting containers for food. For a fluorinated polyethylene film, fluorination can occur either during or after the container's formation.

    摘要: A method for making shaped articles at room ambient temperatures without the addition of extraneous heat comprising the sequential steps:(1) forming a plurality of particles comprising a foamed admixture of starch, biodegradable polymer and water;(2) at room ambient temperature, applying to the surface of the particles finely divided drops of unheated water to effect wetting and softening of the outer surfaces of the particles;(3) without the addition of heat, compressing the surfaces of the surface softened particles to effect cohesion between the wetted outer surfaces of the particles, densification of the particles and formation of a shaped article; and(4) without the addition of heat, maintaining the particles under such compression for a time sufficient to render the outer surface of the particles nontacky by adsorption of water into the particles and by evaporation of water from the surface of the particles and(5) forming a protective skin on the outer surface of the compressed, non-tacky particles by heating the walls of the mold cavity and thus melting the outer surface of the shaped article having contact with the walls of the mold parts.

    摘要: A new shipping and storage pallet for storing or moving cargo and freight. The device includes an integral deck member with a plurality of spaced apart elongate slat portions that extend between a pair of deck member longitudinal sides and which are arrayed between a pair of deck member lateral sides. Upper surfaces of the slat portions define a deck member top upon which items may be rested. A plurality of spaced apart elongate stringer portions extend from a deck member bottom defined by the lower surfaces of the slat portions. An elongate mounting tongue extends along the length of each deck member stringer portion. An integral base member includes a plurality of spaced apart elongate base slat portions. Each base slat portion extends between longitudinal sides of the base member. Lower surfaces of the base slat portions rest on a surface. Upper surfaces of the base slat portions define a base member top from which a plurality of base member base stringer portions extend. Each of the base member base stringer portions has an elongate mounting groove that extends along the length of the base stringer portion. Each mounting tongue of the deck member stringer portions is inserted into a mounting groove of a base member base stringer portion to form a plurality of complete stringer members. The deck member bottom is spaced apart from the base member top to define an entry space into which the forks of a forklift may be inserted.
