Abstract:
A method and apparatus for operation in a multi-frequency band system in the presence of an interference, the method comprising the steps of: receiving signaling in a plurality of wideband frequency sub-bands, each wideband frequency sub-band having a different center frequency, wherein a bandwidth of each wideband frequency sub-band is at least 2 percent of a center frequency of the wideband frequency sub-band; detecting an interfering signal having signal energy in a portion of a respective sub-band of the wideband frequency sub-bands; deciding to discontinue use of the respective sub-band; and instructing a transmitting device transmitting the signaling to transmit subsequent signaling in any except the respective sub-band of the plurality of wideband frequency sub-bands.
Abstract:
A method of data transmission according to one embodiment of the invention includes encoding a set of data values to produce a corresponding series of ordered n-tuples. The method also includes transmitting, according to the series of ordered n-tuples, a plurality of bursts over a plurality n of frequency bands. Specifically, for each of the plurality of bursts, a frequency band occupied by the burst is indicated by the order within its n-tuple of an element corresponding to the burst. A bandwidth of at least one of the plurality of bursts is at least two percent of the center frequency of the burst.
Abstract:
It has been discovered that carbonate powders and bicarbonate powders are useful to increase the pH and corrosion resistance of high-density brines, such as zinc bromide brines, without significantly reducing their densities. The carbonates and/or bicarbonates should be water-soluble and may be sodium, potassium, magnesium and/or ammonium carbonates and/or bicarbonates and the like. The carbonates and/or bicarbonates are easily added in powder or other finely divided solid form.
Abstract:
A corrosion inhibitor comprising a quantity of a phosphorylated oxyalkylated polyol at a pH of 5.0 or higher which produces a first level of corrosion loss in an oxygenated corrosive system under given conditions, and an amount of a passivating agent effective to decrease the corrosion loss under said given conditions to a second level which is less than the first level. The passivating agent minimizes the impact of the corrosion inhibitor on the rheology of drilling system fluids.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of breaking an aqueous based viscosified fluid containing a breaker comprising an alkali metal chlorite or hypochlorite through use of a breaker activator comprising thioglycolate ion or a compound capable of producing thioglycolate ion in the aqueous fluid. The method is particularly effective in providing a controlled break in a treatment fluid introduced into a subterranean formation having a static temperature in the range of from about 100.degree. F. to about 200.degree. F.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of breaking an aqueous based viscosified fluid having potassium ions present therein with a breaker comprising an alkali metal chlorite or hypochlorite through use of a breaker activator comprising a source of ammonium ion in the aqueous fluid. The method is particularly effective in providing a controlled break in a treatment fluid introduced into a subterranean formation having a static temperature in the range of from about 100.degree. F. to about 300.degree. F. In some instances, a second breaker activator comprising a source of thioglycolate ion also may be admixed with the viscosified fluid to further accelerate breaker activation at temperatures below about 200.degree. F.
Abstract:
A method and coating composition for producing protective coatings on metal surfaces of tubular goods, equipment and so forth used in processes associated with oxidative environments to inhibit corrosive effects of the oxidative environments thereon. The coating composition includes an aqueous liquid carrier and a corrosion inhibiting combination of a specific condensation product and an antimony compound. The antimony compound is activated by the condensation product and enhances the degree of protection achieved.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of acidizing a subterranean formation or well bore employing an acidic solution containing a stabilized corrosion inhibitor composition comprising an inhibiting effective amount of an acetylenic alcohol, a quaternary ammonium compound, an aromatic hydrocarbon, an antimony compound, and a stabilizer which substantially prevents precipitation of solubilized antimony-containing compounds from aqueous solutions.
Abstract:
A knife which has generally a blade and a handle wherein the blade folds into the handle; and wherein the handle has a first parallel plate and a second parallel plate which are secured to each other and spaced from each other by a spacer bushing and a fixed bushing to form therein a pocket into which the blade folds as it rotates around the fixed bushing. The fixed bushing has therein a slide hole into which the stem of a lock inserts. A biasing spring is installed in a bore in the stem and bears against a shoulder inside the stem and against a spring plate affixed to the outside of the first parallel plate, thereby biasing the stem and the lock through the second parallel plate. A button on the outside of the second parallel plate passes through a button hole therein, and the button is affixed to the end of the stem. The lock has a lock pin which protrudes through the first parallel plate and engages one of a plurality of lock pin holes in the blade securing the blade in the desired position. To release the blade, the button is pressed, thereby disengaging the lock pin from the lock pinhole and allowing the blade to be repositioned and again locked in the new desired position.
