    摘要: A protective film (6) having a high secondary-emission coefficient is formed on a dielectric layer (5) so as to lower the discharge voltage of a plasma display panel. When the protective film (6) is exposed to the air, it will transform or become cloudy, or the secondary-emission coefficient will lower. To prevent this problem, an inert film (60) is formed on the surface of the protective film (6). As the inert film (60), a film of a metal oxide such as SiO2 and a film of a metal such as Tb are simultaneously formed. Thus, an inert film (60) excellent in barrier property against oxygen and water in the air and enabling easy sputtering from near the discharge electrode at the aging step can be obtained. With this, a plasma display panel exhibiting a low discharge voltage can be realized.

    摘要: The display device of the invention comprises a plurality of scanning lines (Wscan and Escan) which are selected successively, a plurality of data lines (Data) to which the writing electric current (Idata) in accordance with brightness information is supplied according to the scanning line selection, and a plurality of pixels (PX) arranged at intersecting points between the scanning lines and the data lines. Each of the pixels comprises a light emitting element (OLED), a driving transistor (TFT4), a capacitor (C) connected to the gate (Nd) of the driving transistor for accumulating writing data, a first transistor (TFT1) which is turned on during writing period in which the scanning lines are scanned and which connects the data lines and the drain of the driving transistor, and a second transistor (TFT2) which is turned on during the writing period and which short-circuits the gate and drain of the driving transistor. With such a structure, the light emitting element can be driven with a driving electric current equivalent to the writing electric current, irrespective of variations in characteristics of the transistors.

In the plasma display apparatus, which is adapted to the display of an interlace signal, the maximum number of sustain pulses associated with the emission of light that can be made in one field is calculated, based on the vertical synchronization signal frequency of the input signal. A display load factor of the input signal in the one field is calculated and, based on the calculated display load factor, a target number of sustain pulses in the one field is determined. Based on a relationship between the target number of sustain pulses and the maximum number of sustain pulses, an emission luminance ratio of a sub-display line to a main-display line in the one field is determined.

    摘要: In order to reduce aliasing as much as possible in a display apparatus that has a delta arrangement type screen, an image filter for performing a neighborhood operation is incorporated as a previous stage of a screen driving circuit. The image filter realizes low pass filtering including space frequency limitation in the diagonal direction that is suitable for a display on the delta arrangement type screen. Coefficients that constitute the filter matrix are optimized so that frequency components that exceed a Nyquist limit in the delta arrangement are suppressed. Coefficients that give optimal filter characteristics for any scale of filter matrix are defined by an expression.
