Abstract:
A signal processing system which discriminates between voice signals and data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier. The signal processing system includes a voice exchange, a data exchange and a call discriminator. The voice exchange is capable of exchanging voice signals between a switched circuit network and a packet based network. The signal processing system also includes a data exchange capable of exchanging data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier on the switched circuit network with unmodulated data signal packets on the packet based network. The data exchange is performed by demodulating data signals from the switched circuit network for transmission on the packet based network, and modulating data signal packets from the packet based network for transmission on the switched circuit network. The call discriminator is used to selectively enable the voice exchange and data exchange.
Abstract:
A video signal communication method, applicable to IP phone, the method comprises of the following steps: when starting up the supporting video signal function, also starting to receive transmission using video related communication protocol; receiving the internet address setting of the video processing device to retrieve the internet address of the video processing device; determining if the video processing device is initialized; determining if the connected video processing device is initialized and then transmitting the received video signal to the video signal processing device; processing video signal via the compression/decompression module, and the video processing device displaying the video signal.
Abstract:
Transmitting communication data for a connection between at least one calling first terminal and at least one called second terminal in an at least partly packet-oriented network comprising a plurality of node units, a primary connection being established via the packet-oriented network is provided. User data is detected and evaluated in the first node unit that is designated as a terminal node when the primary connection is established. Parameters of the node unit that are adjustable for converting and/or transmitting the user data are adapted to the evaluated user data. The parameters are transmitted to a second node unit that is designated as a terminal node, whereupon a direct media coupling connection is established between node units which have been designated as terminal nodes along the primary connection, the direct media coupling connection being established with parameters that are adapted to the evaluated user data.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an overload control method for an access media gateway and the corresponding access media gateway. The access media gateway restricts call of a subscriber coupled thereto and acting as a calling side or a called side. Different overload levels and calls with high priority to be guaranteed for the respective overload levels are set at the access media gateway. The subscriber of the access media gateway acting as a calling side or a called side determines an overload level upon detection of its own overload, judges whether the call is a call with high priority to be guaranteed for the overload level. If it is a call with high priority to be guaranteed for the overload level, the call is processed in accordance with a normal call flow; otherwise, the call is rejected. The present invention protects an AG system from breakdown at a high traffic load, and efficiently guarantees connection of the call with high priority including an emergency call and/or a call via a subscriber port with high priority, which can reduce dependence on the MGC, prevent the MGC from overload and rapidly alleviate the overload of the AG, so that the time period in which the service is influenced is shortened.
Abstract:
A method and an intermediate element, or a gateway, for routing an information flow in a telecommunication system including a plurality of switching centres. The switching centres are connected with an Internet Protocol (IP) based connection via the gateways, which are arranged to perform speech coding/decoding for an information flow between the switching centres. The gateways are further arranged to detect if the information flow from the switching centre is a data call and to omit the speech coding if the information flow is a data call. The data call detection is performed based on of a symbol pattern included in the frame structure of the information flow.
Abstract:
An inter-working network includes a plurality of interfaces for facilitating communications with a plurality of dispatch networks, a proxy, a signaling bridge, a signaling controller and a signaling gateway. The interfaces include a border gateway that manages communications between the inter-working architecture and each dispatch network. The proxy analyzes incoming session requests to determine whether translation is required between originating and terminating dispatch networks. The signaling bridge is adapted to translate session and signaling messages between dispatch networks having incompatible technologies. The signaling controller is interfaced with the signaling bridge and is adapted to manage dispatch sessions between an originating dispatch network and at least one target dispatch network. The signaling gateway is interfaced with the signaling controller and allocates media resources, such as transcoders, to dispatch sessions in order to convert real-time media between dispatch networks. The inter-working architecture may also include a location entity, an address translation entity and/or a billing clearinghouse.
Abstract:
An Internet Call Waiting—Voice over Internet Protocol (ICW-VOIP) service that uses a service control point and service node of a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), acting as a gatekeeper and bridge respectively, to enable ICW subscribers to answer telephone calls during an internet session without having to disconnect internet access. The primary network components of the ICW-VOIP service comprise a proxy firewall, a service node, and a gateway. When a PSTN call is placed to a subscriber whose line is being used for internet access, the service control point accesses the subscriber's internet address from a database and transmits a message over the internet to the subscriber giving the subscriber the option to accept the call as a VOIP call. Once accepted, the subscriber places an H.323 call through the gateway to the service node. The service control point also forwards the PSTN call to the service node. Using bridging information, the service node matches the subscriber H.323 call and PSTN call and bridges them together to provide a VOIP connection.
Abstract:
A network system for managing remote agents of a communication center includes a primary server connected to the network the primary server controlling at least one routing point; one or more secondary servers distributed on the network and accessible to the remote agents, the secondary server or servers having data access to agent computing platforms and communication peripherals; and, a software suite distributed in part to the secondary server or servers and distributed in part to one or more agents computing platforms and peripherals, the software suite including protocol for reporting agent status data. The system monitors agents computing platforms and peripherals for activity state through the one or more secondary servers whereupon the one or more secondary servers exchange control messaging and event related data using ISCC protocols with the primary server over the network for intelligent routing purposes.
Abstract:
Discloses a system and method for producing a status alert indicating a user contact is now online on a communications device operable with a soft phone application running on an internet interface device in communication with at least one messaging service provider. The communications device has a telephone style handset with alert means to produce a visual and/or audio user perceptible alert. The communications device includes a keypad and display for displaying a user contact list of the soft-phone service application. The list of user contacts for each messaging service provider is monitored to find specified user contacts that have come online. A visible and/or audible alert is produced for each newly online contact the user has specified an alert for. The user can specify the parameters of the alert to obtain a unique alert for each selected contact.
