摘要： A method and apparatus for continuous part casting in which two moving continuous belts are provided each with a series of partial molds which are capable of alignment with the partial molds on the other belt to form complete part molds. The belts are engaged together, and the part molds defined, by the passage of the belts through idler wheels. Molten material is then poured into the part molds and allowed to cool. Passage of each belt over a separate idler wheel accomplishes belt separation and the removal of the parts.

摘要： The method of fabricating hollow frame structures for boats and the like of fiberglass reinforced plastic consists of the steps of the simultaneous production of an inner and outer matching shells on a male and female mold respectively by the conventional laying up of glass fibers and resins. Upon partial curing of the outer and inner shells, an adhesive is applied to the exposed contacting surfaces. The inner shell is removed from the male mold and superimposed on the matching outer shell. The configuration of the inner shell provides a plurality of longitudinal and/or transverse stiffeners forming a plurality of communicating chambers between the two shells and an opening is then made in the inner shell for connecting a vacuum creating apparatus thereto. The edges of the superimposed shells having been trimmed prior to removal from their mold as rendered airtight upon placing a tape along the juncture thereof. Upon applying a partial vacuum to the communicating chambers, atmospheric pressure will exert an even pressure against all faying or contacting surfaces to effect a proper adhesion of the inner and outer shell sections to form a hollow frame structure of fiberglass reinforced plastic.

摘要： A method for forming water candles and other decorative enclosures starting with an elongate candle stem or other stem support formed with an enlarged base. According to the method the bottom of the candle stem base is immersed in a container of water or other cooling fluid medium and a molten thermoplastic material is poured onto and around the enlarged base so that it runs off the base onto the surface of the water forming a substantially horizontal film over the surface of the water surrounding and extending from the base. An edge of the film is depressed to permit water from the container to run across the top of the film and cool and thereby harden molten thermoplastic material on the top of the film around the candle stem. The candle stem is gradually depressed into the container of water while pouring molten thermoplastic material around the perimeter of the hardened film which extends substantially horizontally from the candle base thereby initiating the formation of a substantially vertical sidewall around the candle stem. During pouring of the sidewall, a hold is formed adjacent the bottom of the wall to permit water to enter around the stem of the candle. The candle stem is further depressed while pouring molten thermoplastic material around selected portions of the perimeter until the wall is formed to desired height and the material has cooled and hardened.

摘要： The device is usable for casting molds, particularly for injection and pressure molding, of the type having a fixed mold part carrier, a supporting part having a shifting device attached thereto, at least two guides extending from the fixed carrier to the supporting part, a mold part carrier movable by the shifting device along the guides and anchorable thereon, and a hydraulic prestressing device acting through the guides upon the two mold part carriers. Two guide bars extend parallel to the shifting device through the supporting part in guided relation therein, and are connected to the movable mold part carrier. At least one stop plate is movable on the shifting device and is connected to the two guide bars, and two mechanical stops provided on opposite sides of the stop plate are cooperable therewith. Each guide bar is provided, between the supporting part and the movable mold part carrier, with a piston and also supports a movable cylinder enclosing the piston. Each cylinder is connected to an ejector plate, and cavities on opposite sides of the piston, inside the associated cylinder, are controllably chareable hydraulically. The guides, adjacent that surface of the fixed mold part carrier away from the casing mold, provided prestressing pistons each movable in a cylinder on the fixed mold part carrier.

摘要： A method of and apparatus for preforming moldable compositions of fibrous materials and a binder in which the preform had portions along its width having different thicknesses corresponding to different thicknesses of the final molded product. Initially the composition is formed into a mat which has a thickness at least equal to the thickest portion of the preform, and then excess material is removed from across the width of the mat by scalping rolls to develop the contoured preform having different thicknesses. Each section of the mat having a different thickness is weighed separately to insure proper density of that section of the mat. Following the weighing step, the mat is again shaped into the contoured preform and placed into a mold for a subsequent heating and pressing operation.

摘要： A mold for the centrifugal casting of vehicle tires comprising a separable outer mold part having an inner surface which defines the outer shape of a tire and which will hold an annular tread design insert which has the design of the tire tread on its inner surface and which may also extend around the outside surface of the to be formed tire down to the bead area. Positioned within the confines of the outer mold part is a ringlike elastic core member which has an outer surface which defines the inner surface of a tire when the elastic core member is held in extended position. The elastic core member has an inner surface which permits it to be collapsed and removed from the finished tire. A plurality of form members are located in the inner surface of the elastic core member to hold the core member in extended position. The form members are located in end-to-end relationship to each other and form a generally ringlike shape with each form comprising a sector of the ring. A cylindrical support holds the form members in position and when removed permits removal of the form members from the elastic core member in a generally radially inwardly direction. Means are provided for rotating the mold and also for introducing a flowable and curable elastomeric material into the space between the outer mold part and the elastic core member.
