    摘要： The present invention is an apparatus for employing aromatherapy, binaural sounds, music, vibration, and visual effects for altering a user's emotional state. The apparatus comprises: a shape memory foam pillow, a pair of stereo speakers, an aromatherapy diffuser, a pillowcase comprised of a temperature-regulating fabric, a vibrating device, a strobe light, a canopy, and a housing to integrate and support these components. The user connects a smartphone or other portable digital audio device to the speakers, activates the aromatherapy diffuser, strobe light, and vibrating device, independently or in combination, and then lays his head down on the pillow beneath the open canopy. Ideally, the smartphone or audio device should have a meditation, music, or binaural sound application, which would be tuned to a specific beat frequency, e.g. 10 Hertz. The combined action of essential oil vapors, binaural sounds or music, vibration, and strobe light should alter the user's emotional state towards relaxation, sleepiness, or increased alertness, depending on the essential oils, sounds, vibration, and light patterns employed.

    摘要： A surgical device for closing an incision created by a trocar or similar surgical device is disclosed. The surgical device comprises a support member within which are disposed a first and second needle positioning means. Each of these means carries a suture needle in retrorse configuration relative to the distal end of the support member. The needles can be retracted or deployed relative to the support member in a plurality of desired positions. In operation, the needles are deployed at a desired distance from the edge of the incision. The surgeon then pulls the device out of the body of the patient, thereby capturing and pulling the needles through first the peritoneum followed by the fascia. Needle capture means are provided which retain and remove the needles after the peritoneum and fascia are sutured, leaving the loose ends of the suture thread which can then be tied off below skin level to close the incision.

    摘要： A drive network for an ultrasonic probe includes a network operative to apply a pulse to a feedback terminal of a phase comparator substantially simultaneously with the application at the probe of an excitation signal from a source at a predetermined frequency. This insures that at the start-up of the drive network the frequency of the feedback signal to the phase comparator leads the excitation signal also being applied thereto, to cause the excitation signal from the source to increase toward the resonant frequency of the probe, thereby to search for the resonant frequency of the probe.

    摘要： A medical instrument comprises a main body having a path formed therethrough, through which a tubular member is insertable or drawable. A valve body is provided in the path of the main body, maintaining at least a liquid-tight state with the rod-like member, when the path is opened by the rod-like member inserted through the path, and closing the path at least in the liquid-tight state, when the rod-like member is not inserted through the path. The valve body has two end faces. The valve body is formed with a first slit openable in one of the end faces and a second slit openable in the other of the end faces. The first slit and the second slit cross each other in the valve body.In consequence, rod-like members being of widely varied outer diameters are inserted through the path of the main body and held therein in a liquid-tight state to thereby reliably prevent blood leakage. Also, blood flow-out when the rod-like member or members are abruptly withdrawn from the path of the main body is reliably prevented. Further, a single valve body is provided so that the construction of the medical instrument can be simplified.
