Abstract: Locking catheters including a fluid-tight hub and mechanism to secure a flexible member. An illustrative locking catheter may comprise an elongate shaft defining a lumen, a first connection member coupled to the elongate shaft, a second connection member configured to be releasably coupled to the first connection member, and a flexible member extending through at least a portion of a lumen of the elongate shaft and a portion of a lumen of the first connection member. The proximal end of the flexible member may extend through the aperture of the first connection member such that the proximal end of the flexible member is exterior to the first connection member. When the second connection member is coupled with the first connection member, the flexible member may be secured between an inner surface of the first connection member and an outer surface of the inner tubular member of the second connection member.

Abstract: An example catheter assembly includes a first catheter body portion defining a first lumen and a plurality of sidewall openings open to the lumen and configured to at least one of introduce fluid into a patient or remove fluid from the patient. The catheter assembly further includes a second catheter body portion defining a second lumen, a first cuff proximal to a distal end of the first catheter body portion, a second cuff distal to a proximal end of the second catheter body portion, and a connector configured to mechanically connect the first and second catheter body portions between the first and second cuffs and to fluidically connect the first and second lumens. A distance between the first and second cuffs is modifiable by at least modifying one of a length of the first catheter body portion or a length of the second catheter body portion.

Abstract: A collector for fecal discharge is provided comprising a self-expanding resilient collection component, a housing sheath and a transit component. The collection component has an open proximal and distal end and a lumen connecting them. The component comprises interconnected resilient arms circumscribing its contour, wherein adjacent arms are resiliently biased away from each other for exerting outwardly radial pressure for expanding and anchoring the component to rectal walls upon deployment. The housing sheath comprises a flexible and resilient material overlaying at least one of inner or outer contour of collection component without interfering with or blocking its ends or lumen. The transit component provides a conduit for fecal discharge to migrate from collection component to a receptacle and comprises a flexible, tubular sheath having a first open end connected to a second end by a lumen, wherein the first end engages with the proximal end of the collection component.

Abstract: A system for treating heart disease, such as pulmonary hypertension or right heart failure, including an implantable component and external components for monitoring the implantable component is provided. The implantable component may include a compliant member, e.g., balloon, coupled to a reservoir via a conduit. Preferably, the compliant member is adapted to be implanted in a pulmonary artery and the reservoir is adapted to be implanted subcutaneously. Abstract: An intravascular catheter for peri-vascular and/or peri-urethral tissue ablation includes multiple needles advanced through supported guide tubes which expand with open ends around a central axis to engage the interior surface of the wall of the renal artery or other vessel of a human body allowing the injection an ablative fluid for ablating tissue, and/or nerve fibers in the outer layer or deep to the outer layer of the vessel, or in prostatic tissue. The system also includes means to limit and/or adjust the depth of penetration of the ablative fluid into and beyond the tissue of the vessel wall. The preferred embodiment of the catheter includes structures which provide radial and lateral support to the guide tubes so that the guide tubes open uniformly and maintain their position against the interior surface of the vessel wall as the sharpened injection needles are advanced to penetrate into the vessel wall.

Abstract: An apparatus for fastening around a cranial burr hole includes a substantially flat core and a shell encapsulating a ring portion of the core. The shell defines an orifice substantially centered within the ring portion, and has a contoured lower surface to match the cranial curvature. Pliable arms of the core extend laterally from the ring portion, each being terminated by a fastener member. A central portion of a placement tool for the apparatus has a lower part configured to extend through the apparatus orifice, and an upper part from which first and second arms of the tool extend laterally. Each tool arm is terminated with a receptacle to hold a bone screw, and, when the tool central portion lower part extends through the apparatus orifice, each receptacle aligns with a corresponding fastener member, and lower openings of the receptacles are generally oriented along the contoured lower surface.
