Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for monitoring application health via correctable errors. The method includes identifying, by a network device, a network packet associated with an application and detecting an error associated with the network packet. In response to detecting the error, the network device increments a counter associated with the application, determines an application score based at least in part on the counter, and telemeters the application score to a controller. The controller can generate a graphical interface based at least in part on the application score and a timestamp associated with the application score, wherein the graphical interface depicts a trend in correctable errors experienced by the application over a network.

Abstract: An optical transmitter device includes a digital signal processor (DSP) having digital hardware. The DSP is operative to generate shaped bits from a first set of information bits, and to apply a systematic forward error correction (FEC) scheme to encode the shaped bits and a second set of information bits, where the first set of information bits and the second set of information bits are disjoint sets. Unshaped bits and the shaped bits are mapped to selected symbols or are used to select symbols from one or more constellations. The selected symbols are mapped to physical dimensions. Each unshaped bit is either one of the second set of information bits or one of multiple parity bits resulting from the FEC encoding. In this manner, a target spectral efficiency is achieved.

The first encoder is configured to encode data using a staircase code to generate first codewords. The first interleaver is configured to interleave the first codewords using convolutional interleaving to spread a transmission order of the first codewords. The second encoder is configured to encode the interleaved first codewords using a second code to generate second codewords. The mapper is configured to map the second codewords to transmit symbols. The second interleaver is configured to interleave the transmit symbols to distribute the transmit symbols between pilot symbols. The frame generator is configured to generate a transmit frame including the interleaved transmit symbols and the pilot symbols.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a control signal for automatic wireless network version detection of a transmission. The control signal enables a receiver to detect the wireless network version detection of the transmission, so that the proper wireless network version is used for interpreting signaling information and decoding of the payload of the transmission. In some examples, the control signal is within a preamble of the transmission. The wireless network version can be an IEEE 802.11 version, such as proposed IEEE 802.11be. The control signal is compatible with legacy systems and can indicate the legacy signaling information by way of a Legacy Signal (SIG) (L-SIG) symbol. In some examples, the control signal can indicate the wireless network version by using an identifier symbol which is generated from at least part of, but is not identical to, the L-SIG symbol.
