摘要: A method includes placing a contact lens over a cornea of an eye. The contact lens includes a central convex disc, a peripheral curved portion that extends radially from the disc, an annular groove formed in the disc on the posterior portion, and one or more apertures formed in the groove. A drug substance is placed over the anterior portion of the contact lens. The groove is in contact with the cornea and is a depot for the drug substance. The groove is in fluid connection with the anterior portion of the lens via the one or more apertures. The drug substance moves in an undiluted manner to the groove and the contact lens holds the drug substance in contact with the cornea, unaffected by blinking or tear exchange, facilitating enhanced bioavailability to the cornea of the drug substance.

摘要: An optical device for off-axis viewing includes a contact lens adapted for human eye wear. The contact lens includes a diffraction grating written into or on the contact lens. A peripheral light from a peripheral light source is diffracted by the diffraction grating so as to appear at about a same location as light from an ambient scene substantially in a direction of a central field of view. A wearer of the optical device for off-axis viewing sees simultaneously the peripheral light and the light from an ambient scene as superimposed at least in part over each other. A device-less method for correcting light direction from an ambient light source to a retina of a diseased or injured eye, and a remedial contact lens method for correcting light direction from an ambient light source to a retina of a diseased or injured eye are also described.

摘要: Apparatus and systems for an ophthalmic device having alignment features for a liquid filled layered stack to assemble are disclosed herein. An example apparatus may include first, second, and third optical elements arranged in a stack, with each optical element including alignment and separation features. The alignment and separation features may form a reservoir region and a dam region. The reservoir region may provide radial alignment to the first, second, and third optical elements such that an optical axis of each optical element is aligned, and the reservoir region may have a reservoir region gap formed between adjacent ones of the optical elements. The dam region, disposed radially outside of the reservoir region, may include a first dam formed due to the first and second optical elements being in contact, and a second dam formed due to the second and third optical elements being in contact, wherein the dam region determines a reservoir region gap width.
