    Abstract: A contact lens for application in practice of orthokeratology on an eye, including a curved shell having a concave surface and a convex surface. The concave surface includes a carrier zone and a back shaping zone, the back shaping zone having a first curvature and the carrier zone having at least one second curvature. The curved shell has a geometric center and the back shaping zone has a shaping zone center and the back shaping zone center is offset peripherally from the geometric center. The curved shell can have an overall diameter that approximates a corneal limbal diameter of the eye to which the contact lens is to be applied.

    Abstract: A system for marking a coated optical article (10) having at least one first mark (18) on a surface of a substrate (20) of the coated optical article (10) includes at least one mark (18) identification device having at least one electromagnetic radiation source (111) configured to irradiate at least a portion of the surface of the substrate (20) having the at least one first mark (18) with electromagnetic radiation (119A, 123). The at least one mark (18) identification device further includes at least one imaging device configured to receive a portion of the electromagnetic radiation (119A, 123) reflected from the surface of the substrate (20) having the least one first mark (18) and determine a position of the at least one first mark (18) on the surface of the substrate (20).     Abstract: An accommodating contact lens comprises a variable focus optical module, which comprises an optical chamber and one or more eyelid engaging chambers coupled to the optical chamber with one or more extensions comprising channels extending between the optical chamber and the more eyelid engaging chambers. The module may comprise a self-supporting module capable of supporting itself prior to placement in a contact lens to facilitate placement prior to encapsulation in the contact lens. The module may comprise one or more optically transmissive materials, provides improved optical correction, and can be combined with soft contact lens materials such as hydrogels. In many embodiments, the module comprises a support structure extending between an upper membrane and a lower membrane in order to provide variable optical power accurately with decreased amounts distortion and improved responsiveness to eyelid induced pressure.

    Abstract: Contact lenses that comprise a multi-layer design may be utilized to enhance and/or highlight the appearance of the eyes upon which the contact lenses are positioned while maintaining a natural look. These exemplary designs each comprise three layers; namely, a unique limbal design graphic, a unique inner effect graphic and a unique outer effect graphic. The layers may be formed utilizing any number of design elements and design principles. The limbal design graphic is the portion of the overall pattern that surrounds the outer diameter of the iris and is closest to the sclera and is meant to highlight, enhance and/or define the limbal region of the eye; however, it also comprises elements that extend into the iris. The inner effect graphic layer is the portion of the overall pattern that is meant to enhance the iris; however, it may comprise a portion that also contributes to highlighting, enhancing and/or defining the limbal region of the eye. The outer effect graphic layer is the portion of the overall pattern that is meant to enhance the iris; however, it may comprise a portion that also contributes to highlighting, enhancing and/or defining the limbal region of the eye.
