Abstract: A radar system for detecting a target containing electronic components. The radar system includes a radiofrequency transmitter which generates a radar signal at a fundamental frequency. A modulator modulates the radar signal at a modulation frequency and the modulated radar signal is coupled to a transmission antenna. A receiver receives an echo from the radar signal. A filter isolates the harmonics of the fundamental frequency from the echo and a demodulator then compares the phase of the harmonics of the echo with the phase of the harmonics of the radar signal and generates an output signal representative thereof. An imaging algorithm receives the output signal and creates a two-dimensional image of the received echo and then displays that image on a display.

Abstract: A radar system for a vehicle includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter transmits an amplified and frequency modulated radio signal. Each transmitter comprises a frequency generator, a code generator, a modulator, a constant-envelope power amplifier, and an antenna. The frequency generator generates the radio signal with a desired center frequency. The code generator generates a sequence of chips at a selected chiprate. A modulation interval between successive chips is a reciprocal of the chiprate. The modulator frequency modulates the radio signal using shaped frequency pulses. The shaped frequency pulses correspond to a first signal, the frequency of which deviates from the desired center frequency during each of the modulation intervals according to a selected pulse shape. The selected pulse shape is determined by the generated sequence of chips. The constant-envelope power amplifier amplifies the frequency modulated radio signal at a desired transmit power level. The antenna transmits the radio signal.

Abstract: A two-way coded aperture radar imaging system is disclosed. The system includes an antenna reflector and a radar signal transceiver configured to generate sequential radar transmission signals and receive a plurality of respective reflected radar signals. The system also includes a phase control component configured to phase-encode the sequential radar transmission signals via a plurality of phase-codes to generate a respective plurality of phase-coded radar pulses that are concurrently reflected at a respective plurality of sub-aperture portions of the antenna reflector to concurrently transmit the plurality of phase-coded radar pulses from the antenna reflector to a target. The transmitted phase-coded radar pulses can be reflected from the target as the respective plurality of reflected radar signals. The system further includes a sub-aperture radar controller configured to integrate the plurality of reflected radar signals and to generate a three-dimensional image of the target from the integrated plurality of reflected radar signals.

Abstract: A radar or sonar system amplifies the signal received by an antenna of the radar system or a transducer of the sonar system is amplified and then subject to linear demodulation by a linear receiver. There may be an anti-aliasing filter and an analog-to-digital converter between the amplifier and the linear receiver. The system may also have a digital signal processor with a network stack running in the processor. That processor may also have a network interface media access controller, where the system operates at different ranges, the modulator may produce pulses of two pulse patterns differing in pulse duration and inter-pulse spacing, those pulse patterns are introduced and used to form two radar images with the two images being derived from data acquired in a duration not more than twenty times larger than the larger inter-pulse spacing, or for a radar system, larger than one half of the antenna resolution time. One or more look-up tables may be used to control the amplifier. The radar system may generate digital output which comprises greater than eight levels of radar video.

Abstract: Generally discussed herein are systems, apparatuses, and methods for generating a replica of a first signal with a notch at one or more desired frequencies. In an example, an apparatus can include a pulse cataloger configured to analyze the first signal and to provide phase modulation information about the first signal, a direct digital synthesizer having an output and configured to modulate a second signal using the phase modulation information and to provide the second signal at the output. Abstract: An apparatus having an amplifier and a correction circuit is disclosed. The amplifier may be configured to amplify an intermediate signal to generate an output signal. The amplifier is generally a microwave frequency power amplifier. The correction circuit may be configured to (i) generate a control signal based on a plurality of characteristics of the amplifier, and (ii) adjust a plurality of phases of a plurality of pulses in a pulse burst to generate the intermediate signal. The adjusting may be in response to the control signal. The pulse burst is generally received in an input signal. The phases of the pulses as adjusted in the intermediate signal generally cancel a plurality of phase errors induced by the amplifier in the pulses.
