Abstract: An application function (AF) of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) can be in communication with multiple Policy Control Function (PCF) domains of a telecommunication network. The AF can review attributes of a particular communication session, and identify a particular one of the PCF domains that corresponds to the attributes. The AF can then send a request about the communication session to a PCF element of the identified PCF domain over an Rx interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods provided herein are directed to a mechanism for determining current or currently known location of a user equipment (UE). Upon receiving a request regarding location information of the UE, a gateway mobile location center (GMLC) may send a SIP OPTIONS to an interrogating call session control function (I-CSCF). In response to receiving the SIP OPTIONS, the I-CSCF may perform a location information request (LIR) and a location information answer (LIA) with the HSS to locate a serving call session control function (S-CSCF) where the UE is registered. The S-CSCF may route the SIP OPTIONS to an application server (AS) to request the registered location information of the UE, and in response, the AS may send a 200 OK, as an acknowledgment, to the S-CSCF, that includes location information of the UE provided during registration of the UE.

Abstract: Some examples herein can permit increasing the number of concurrent sessions that a network can support. An anchoring network device can anchor the sessions. A network gateway can transcode data of those sessions using transcoding units, and determine a utilization of the transcoding units. The anchoring network device can determine that the utilization satisfies a load criterion. The anchoring network device can adjust capability information of at least one session to reduce load on the network gateway. In some examples, the anchoring network device can send a session-change message to terminal(s) of session(s). In some examples, the anchoring network device can remove a relatively high-load codec from a codec list of a session. In some examples, the anchoring network device can adjust capability information based on predicted load.

Abstract: Telecommunication network components configured to manage a handover of a communication session of user equipment from a packet-switched access network to a circuit-switched access network are described herein. The components may receive a handover request from user equipment, allocate circuit-switched access network resources, and request a session transfer. When the session transfer is invalid, e.g., during a pre-establishment phase of a communication session, the components may reject the transfer within a selected time and provide an invalid-handover message. Components may, in response to an invalid handover request, transmit a rejection of the session transfer and a fallback-trigger message.

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology allow multi-realm support at US-CSCF to IMS by the same I/S-CSCF nodes. Some embodiments allow for a registration message to be received from an IMS client. The registration message can be used to establish, through an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) core network, a service between a first endpoint associated with a first realm and a second endpoint associated with a second, different realm. The registration message can be translated so that the second endpoint believes the first endpoint is associated with the second realm before being transmitted to the second endpoint. Upon receiving a successful IMS registration message from the IMS core network, a binding can be created between the first endpoint and the second endpoint.

Abstract: Managing Security Parameter Information (SPIs) to prevent race condition failures begins where a system negotiates SPIs along with associated expiration times, and re-negotiates new SPIs as necessary. The system prevents race conditions that would otherwise occur when both an old SPI and a new SPI are active at the same time. The system accomplishes this by managing the storage and deletion of old SPIs such that only active SPIs are stored on the system for use by a User Equipment (UE) or Proxy Call Session Control Function (P-CSCF).

Abstract: A communication device may transmit messages to an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network through an untrusted non-3GPP radio access network (RAN). A process to be implemented on a communication device may include generating a message having a location identifier (ID) that is indicative of a current location of the communication device, and transmitting the message, through an untrusted non-3GPP RAN, to a node within the IMS network. A process to be implemented on one or more nodes of the IMS network may include receiving, from a communication device and via an untrusted non-3GPP RAN, a message having a location ID, and in response to receiving the message, estimating a current location of the communication device based at least in part on the location ID.

Abstract: Telecommunications network components configured to manage call control of a communication session of user equipment are described herein. An anchoring network device may proxy signaling traffic for the communication session. The anchoring network device may determine a routing identifier based at least in part on which access network, or which type of access network, is carrying the communication session, and may transmit state information of the communication session to a call-control server in association with the routing identifier. The call-control server may provide control information of the communication session to the anchoring network device in response to the state information. The anchoring network device may modify the communication session, e.g., by adding or dropping one or more parties, in response to the control information. The routing identifier may be determined based at least in part on capabilities of a communication session indicated in a session-initiation message.
