摘要： A network operator can partition network elements, including elements of an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) or Policy and Charging Rules Functions (PCRFs) into groups reserved for specific types of subscribers. When a user equipment (UE) registers with an IMS, elements of the IMS can contact a Home Subscriber Server (HSS) to determine a subscriber type associated with the UE. Based on the UE's subscriber type, an IMS element can determine an application server or other IMS element to contact about the UE based on identifying application servers or IMS elements that are also associated with the same subscriber type as the UE. Similarly, an IMS element can determine a PCRF to contact about the UE based on identifying a PCRF that is associated with the same subscriber type as the UE.

The AF can review attributes of a particular communication session, and identify a particular one of the PCF domains that corresponds to the attributes. The AF can then send a request about the communication session to a PCF element of the identified PCF domain over an Rx interface.

摘要： Managing Security Parameter Information (SPIs) to prevent race condition failures begins where a system negotiates SPIs along with associated expiration times, and re-negotiates new SPIs as necessary. The system prevents race conditions that would otherwise occur when both an old SPI and a new SPI are active at the same time. The system accomplishes this by managing the storage and deletion of old SPIs such that only active SPIs are stored on the system for use by a User Equipment (UE) or Proxy Call Session Control Function (P-CSCF).

The PCRF can accordingly contact the identified gateway to establish a Gx session for the UE with the gateway, such as restoring a previous Gx session or establishing a new Gx session.
