    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for transmitting data signaling via a first set of subcarriers (e.g., data subcarriers) at a same transmit power as PTRS transmissions via a second set of subcarriers (e.g., PTRS subcarriers) via a first transmission layer. Additionally, the described techniques provide for transmitting data signaling via the first set of subcarriers and the second set of subcarriers via a second transmission layer. That is, a wireless device may transmit data signaling via the second transmission layer at subcarriers used for PTRS transmissions via the first transmission layer while maintaining an average energy across the first transmission layer and the second transmission layer. In some examples, a receiving device may estimate the phase noise error for each transmission layer using one or more PTRS transmissions or using signaling from each transmission layer.

In some examples, a first device may combine, for each of a set of sub-blocks of a block of data, a set of unencoded bits associated with a respective sub-block with a matrix to generate a set of encoded bits. The first device may transmit a first message including the block to a second device.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a configuration indicating a set of resources for a reference signal to track an in-phase and quadrature-phase imbalance of the UE. The set of resources may include a first subset of resources for transmitting the reference signal and a second subset of resources for a mirror image signal that is generated during upconversion of the reference signal. The UE may upconvert the reference signal to a set of subcarriers corresponding to the first subset of resources and transmit the upconverted reference signal on the first subset of resources. The base station may receive the reference signal and the mirror image signal and determine a signal adjustment for communications with the UE based on the received reference signal and the received mirror image signal.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for mapping coding indices associated with a rateless coding scheme to respective sets of communication resources over which a transmitting device may perform transmissions of portions of a message corresponding to each of the coding indices. In some aspects, for example, different coding indices may correspond to different cumulative portions of the message and the transmitting device may transmit a first cumulative portion of the message corresponding to a first coding index over a first set of communication resources to which the first coding index is mapped. The transmitting device may signal an indication of such a resource mapping scheme to a receiving device and the receiving device may attempt to decode transmissions of one or more cumulative portions of the message using the indicated resource mapping scheme.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for signaling mechanisms associated with transmission puncturing schemes for rateless coding. In some aspects, a transmitting device may encode a message using a rateless code associated with a cumulative encoding of various portions of the message and may perform transmission puncturing to adapt a bit rate of related signal transmissions. The transmitting device may signal an indication of the transmission puncturing scheme, and potentially one or more modifications to the transmission puncturing scheme, to a receiving device via control signaling. The transmitting device may modify the transmission puncturing scheme in accordance with prioritizing retransmissions for some cumulative portions of the message ahead of other cumulative portions, such as by granting prioritized cumulative portions of the message relatively earlier transmission occasions in the transmission puncturing scheme.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a wireless communications system, a first user equipment (UE) may receive a message from a second UE via a set of one or more antennas, where a first symbol period and a second symbol period of the message include a duplicated signal, and the first symbol period is immediately prior to the second symbol period in a time domain. The first UE may calculate a correlation between first data included in the first symbol period and second data included in the second symbol period of the message for each antenna of the set of one or more antennas. In some cases, the first UE may power down at least one radio frequency chain based on the result of the calculated correlation satisfying a threshold value.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In one example, a transmitting device may identify first and second portions of data to include in a data transmission. The transmitting device may encode the second portion by a configuration of a first subset of resource elements. The transmitting device may transmit, via the data transmission, first signals representative of the first portion over the first subset and one or more second signals over a second subset of resource elements. A receiving device may receive the data transmission and may identify that the one or more second signals include content other than data of the data transmission. The receiving device may decode the first signals in order to identify the first portion and the configuration in order to identify the second portion. The receiving device may refrain from decoding the one or more second signals based on the identifying.
