    摘要: This invention relates to a front electrode/contact for use in an electronic device such as a photovoltaic device. In certain example embodiments, the front electrode of a photovoltaic device or the like includes a multilayer coating including at least one transparent conductive oxide (TCO) layer (e.g., of or including a material such as tin oxide, ITO, zinc oxide, or the like) and/or at least one conductive substantially metallic IR reflecting layer (e.g., based on silver, gold, or the like). In certain example instances, the multilayer front electrode coating may include one or more conductive metal(s) oxide layer(s) and one or more conductive substantially metallic IR reflecting layer(s) in order to provide for reduced visible light reflection, increased conductivity, cheaper manufacturability, and/or increased infrared (IR) reflection capability.

    摘要: This invention is related to a thin film transistor (TFT) array and method of making same, for use in an active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) having a high pixel aperture ratio. The TFT array and corresponding display are made by forming the TFTs and corresponding address lines on a substrate, coating the address lines and TFTs with a photo-imageable insulating layer which acts as a negative resist, exposing portions of the insulating layer with UV light which are to remain on the substrate, removing non-exposed areas of the insulating layer so as to form contact vias, and depositing pixel electrodes on the substrate over the insulating layer so that the pixel electrodes contact respective TFT source electrodes through the contact vias. The resulting display has an increased pixel aperture ratio because the pixel electrodes are formed over the insulating layer so as to overlap portions of the array address lines.

    摘要: A thin film transistor (TFT) array in an active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) including a centrally located round source electrode substantially completely surrounded by a substantially annular or circular shaped drain electrode. The geometric design of the TFT of this invention provides for a thin film transistor having a reduced parasitic capacitance and decreased photosensitivity. The TFTs of this invention are located at the intersections of gate and drain lines of an active matrix LCD array thereby increasing the size of the pixel display openings of the matrix array.

    摘要: A method of forming a pixel for a liquid crystal display includes forming a pixel electrode on a substrate, depositing a continuous three layer amorphous silicon alloy structure with an intrinsic layer between two n-doped layers, depositing an opaque metal layer over the semiconductor layers and etching the top metal layer and semiconductor layers to form continuous address lines with underlying semiconductor layers and a bidirectional threshold element connected between each electrode and an adjacent overlying address line. A metal pad positioned on each electrode provides for improved conductivity with each adjacent threshold element. The threshold elements have a threshold settable by directing light through each pad, provided the pads are at least partly transmissive. A symmetrical bilateral threshold element is formed of first and second series coupled threshold elements.
