Abstract: User equipment (UEs) within a sidelink communications system may employ control forwarding techniques. For example, a UE may piggyback resource reservation information received from other UEs when broadcasting its own resource reservation. A UE that may be in line of sight (LOS) with two other UEs that themselves are in a non-line of sight (NLOS) situation and may include resource reservation information associated with other UEs when broadcasting the control information. For example, when forwarding control information, a UE may identify additional resources available in a transmission interval, and may convey neighbor control information (e.g., known resource reservations of other UEs in the sidelink communications system) using the additional resources. In some cases, the piggybacked resource reservation information associated with the other UEs may be selected based on the amount of additional resources in the transmission interval, a priority of known resource reservation information, etc.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device may determine a packet for transmission and determine whether to transmit a reservation signal prior to the transmission of the packet based in part on a condition. The condition may include, but is not limited to, a packet size, or a packet priority, or a combination thereof. According to the determination, the device may refrain from transmitting the reservation signal or allocate resources for the reservation signal from a same resource pool associated with the transmission of the packet or a dedicated resource pool according to a pre-reservation resource pattern.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the disclosure, a first method, a first computer-readable medium, and a first apparatus are provided. The first apparatus may be a UE. The first apparatus may receive, from a base station, a first grant associated with a first set of resource available to the first apparatus for transmission on a first sidelink channel. The first apparatus may determine whether to request, from the base station, a second grant associated with a second set of resources available to the first apparatus for transmission on the first sidelink channel. The first apparatus may send, to the base station, a request for the second grant when determining to request the second grant. Further, the first apparatus may send information on the first sidelink channel based on the first grant when determining not to request the second grant.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to device-to-device (D2D) and, more particularly, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication in which an efficient ranging protocol allows efficient ranging-assisted vehicle positioning. A vehicle transmits a first slot ID in a first control period, to indicate a first time slot for transmitting a first ranging signal in a ranging cycle including a plurality of time slots. The vehicle transmits the first ranging signal in the first time slot in the ranging cycle. From a second vehicle, the first vehicle receives a second ranging signal in a second time slot that is different from the first time slot in the ranging cycle. The first vehicle determines a first time-of-arrival (ToA) of the second ranging signal when received by the first vehicle, and transmits the first ToA in a second control period.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A transmitting device may be communicating via a relay wireless communication link. The communicating may include communications using a plurality of bearers. The transmitting device may identify a packet for transmission on the relay wireless communication link belonging to a first bearer. The first bearer may have an associated quality of service (QoS) parameter set. The transmitting device may configured a header of the packet that is processed by a relay wireless device to convey an indication of the QoS parameter set. The transmitting device may transmit the packet including the configured header on the relay wireless communication link and according to the QoS parameter set.

Abstract: A transmitting UE may in a device-to-device (D2D) communication may identify a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) sequence for a D2D transmission based at least in part on a subset of bits of a sidelink control information (SCI) transmission. The subset of bits of the SCI transmission may be selected such that the bits have sufficient variability to reduce the likelihood that multiple UEs may use the same DMRS sequence. The subset of bits of the SCI transmission may be all or a portion of a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for the SCI.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems support beamforming to improve the reliability of transmissions from a transmitting device to a receiving device. In some cases, a wireless device broadcasts information using beamforming. In such cases, in order to limit the overhead and power consumption associated with the broadcast, the wireless device utilizes the techniques described herein for broadcasting information using beamforming. In particular, rather than broadcasting large amounts of data in a beam-sweep, a wireless device broadcasts a relatively lightweight signal in a beam-sweep to first identify a receiving device and/or a suitable beam for communicating with a receiving device. Once the transmitting device identifies the receiving device and/or the suitable beam, the transmitting device broadcasts the data to be received by the receiving device.

Abstract: Additional requirements for spectrum emissions may be matched with regional requirements, and an additional maximum power reduction (A-MPR) for a user equipment (UE) may be based on an actual antenna gain of the UE. For example, a UE may be located in a particular region and be required to meet regional requirements for wireless communications. In such cases, the UE may receive network signaling from a base station, and identify an antenna gain for its antenna. The UE may then identify a set of emission requirements based on the identified antenna gain and the network signaling. Additionally, the UE may identify an A-MPR based on the set of emission requirements and the antenna gain and may adjust a maximum output power in accordance with the identified A-MPR. In some examples, an output power threshold may be derived using a difference between a regional requirement and the UE's antenna gain.
