摘要: An exemplary tunable circuit includes an inductor coupled to a node and a first capacitor coupled to the node. The tunable circuit also includes a variable capacitor coupled to the node, such that a total capacitance of the tunable circuit depends on a fixed capacitance of the first capacitor and a variable capacitance of the variable capacitor. In an example, the inductor and the first capacitor are both included in a passive device and the variable capacitor is in a semiconductor device. The variable capacitor allows the total capacitance to be modified for the purpose of, for example, calibrating the capacitance to account for manufacturing variations, and/or adjusting to a frequency range of operation used by wireless devices in a region of the world. The first capacitor may be a higher quality capacitor providing a larger portion of the total capacitance than the variable capacitor.

摘要: A system includes a local oscillator (LO) signal generation circuit, a receiver (RX) circuit, and a calibration circuit. The LO signal generation circuit generates an LO signal according to a reference clock, and includes an active oscillator that generates the reference clock. The active oscillator includes at least one active component. The RX circuit generates a processed RX signal by processing an RX input signal according to the LO signal. The calibration circuit checks a signal characteristic of the processed RX signal by detecting if a calibration tone exists within a receiver bandwidth, set a frequency calibration control output in response to the calibration tone being not found in the receiver bandwidth, and output the frequency calibration control output to the LO signal generation circuit. The LO signal generation circuit adjusts an LO frequency of the LO signal in response to the frequency calibration control output.

摘要: A wireless system includes a local oscillator (LO) signal generation circuit, a receiver (RX) circuit, and a calibration circuit. The LO signal generation circuit generates an LO signal according to a reference clock. The LO signal generation circuit includes an active oscillator. The active oscillator generates the reference clock, wherein the active oscillator includes at least one active component, and does not include an electromechanical resonator. The RX circuit generates a down-converted RX signal by performing down-conversion upon an RX input signal according to the LO signal. The calibration circuit generates a frequency calibration control output according to a signal characteristic of the down-converted RX signal, and outputs the frequency calibration control output to the LO signal generation circuit. The LO signal generation circuit adjusts an LO frequency of the LO signal in response to the frequency calibration control output.

A primary capacitor in the plurality of process-dependent capacitors is disengaged by an OFF-state non-volatile RF switch in the plurality of non-volatile RF switches. The auxiliary capacitor substitutes for the primary capacitor.

摘要: A communication system includes a passive wireless sensor and a sensor computing device. The passive wireless sensor is operable to receive a radio frequency (RF) signal including a carrier frequency signal and a modulated sense request signal, generate a power supply voltage, determine received signal strength (RSSI) of the RF signal, and determine whether the RSSI is at a desired level. When the RSSI is at a desired level, the passive wireless sensor generates a response RF signal including the carrier frequency and a coded sense response signal representative of a sensed environmental condition. The sensed environmental condition affects impedance of a front-end of the passive wireless sensor to produce an affected impedance. The passive wireless sensor generates the coded sense response signal based on tuning the affected impedance to resonate with the carrier frequency signal. The computing device operable to: transmit the RF signal, receive the response RF signal, and generate an environmental condition value based on the coded sense response signal and environmental conversion information.

摘要: A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag includes an antenna structure operable to receive a radio frequency (RF) signal, an RF signal circuit operable to, when enabled, produce the RF signal, a sensing element operably coupled to the antenna structure, a memory, and a processing module. When in a calibration mode, the processing module adjusts the input impedance until a measured power level is substantially equal to the desired input power level, and generates a first digital value based on the amount of the adjustment a power difference between a measured first input power level and a desired power level, and stores the first digital value in the memory, where the first digital value is representative of a known condition. In a sense mode, the processing module adjusts the input impedance until a second measured power level is substantially equal to the desired input power level, and generates a second digital value based on the amount of the adjustment a power difference between a measured first input power level and a desired power level, and the desired power level, and stores the second digital value in the memory, where the second digital value is representative of an unknown condition.
