Abstract: A vehicle controller includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to perform an intermittent stop of an engine in accordance with a traveling state of a vehicle, cause the engine to restart by self-sustaining resumption when restart of the engine is requested in a state in which the engine is rotating during the intermittent stop, and perform a retarded injection control that retards, in a combustion cycle of the engine, a starting time of a first fuel injection at the time of the restart of the engine by the self-sustaining resumption as compared to a starting time of a second fuel injection.

Abstract: A port fuel injection system includes a fuel pump configured to produce a flow of pressurized liquid fuel at a pressure between 10 and 50 bar. A fuel rail is connected to receive the flow of pressurized liquid fuel from the fuel pump, the fuel rail. A plurality of fuel injectors, including one fuel injector positioned in the intake port of each engine cylinder upstream of the intake valve for the engine cylinder are connected to receive pressurized fuel from the fuel rail. An engine control unit (ECU) receives signals from sensors on the internal combustion engine and is programmed to actuate the fuel injectors to deliver fuel to each engine cylinder over a full range of engine operating conditions. A port fuel injection system with high pressure and fast acting fuel injectors improves fuel delivery and performance over the full range of engine operating conditions.

Abstract: Provided are a method and an ICE system, including an internal combustion engine including a first and a second set of cylinders. A first and a second EGR valve control flow of exhaust gas from the cylinders to an EGR conduit. A controller controls the closing of the second EGR valve, thereby preventing flow of exhaust gas from the second set of cylinders to the EGR conduit. The second EGR valve is upstream of a turbine. The controller is configured to activate a fuel injector for late post injection of fuel into the second set of cylinders when the second EGR valve is closed, so that at least a part of the fuel that exits the second set of cylinders is uncombusted. An exhaust gas aftertreatment system receives and treats exhaust gas which is not recirculated in the EGR conduit, and includes an oxidation catalyst for combustion.

The control system is also configured to, during a period in which the intake valve is open: receive a second torque request signal indicative of a second torque demand different to the first torque demand; determine an updated schedule defining an updated closing timing of the intake valve in dependence on the second torque demand; and cause the intake valve to close in accordance with the updated schedule.

Abstract: An engine system is provided, which includes a cylinder block, a cylinder head, a piston, a main combustion chamber, a subchamber, an injector that injects fuel into the main combustion chamber, a main spark plug that ignites a mixture gas inside the main combustion chamber, a subspark plug that ignites the mixture gas inside the subchamber, and a control device. In a low-speed high-load range, a fuel injection timing is set in compression stroke and the main ignition and the subignition are performed after the fuel injection timing, and the fuel injection timing under a low-speed condition becomes later than that under a high-speed condition, and the ignition devices are controlled so that the subignition timing is retarded from the main ignition timing and an ignition phase difference that is the retard amount of the subignition timing becomes larger under the low-speed condition than under the high-speed condition.
