An ECU sets target value of a system voltage based on an electric power loss of a motor generator and an inverter and controls a voltage boost converter. The ECU calculates the target value of the system voltage using a function expression generated, for each operating point of the motor generator, by approximating a loss characteristic which represents change of the electric power loss with respect to change of the system voltage, by a quadratic expression or a linear expression of the system voltage.

A motor control apparatus includes a secondary-magnetic-flux-command calculating unit including a minimum-current-secondary-magnetic-flux-command calculating unit that calculates a secondary magnetic flux command for minimizing a current root-mean-square value due to a torque current and an excitation current and a PWM-signal generating unit that generates a torque current command for outputting a desired torque command and an excitation current command for outputting the secondary magnetic flux command, performs vector control such that a q-axis current, which is a detection value of the torque current, and a d-axis current, which is a detection value of the excitation current, respectively coincide with the torque current command and the excitation current command, and generates control signals for turning on and off a switching element in an inverter.

A method for controlling an inverter in a system including a load, a motor for driving the load, and an inverter for operating the motor comprises when a load amount of the load is reduced to below a sleep level, checking whether a time corresponding to a sleep delay has lapsed; when the load amount of the load is still below the sleep level even after the sleep delay, varying an operating frequency of the motor, and if there is no change in a feedback from the load in response to the variation in the operating frequency, controlling the inverter to enter a sleep mode.

A motor control apparatus and a motor control method determine whether the motor is in a back-pressure area so as to provide different rotation-speed control signals. When the fan is in the low duty cycle, a first circuit loop is switched on, so that the fan has more accurate rotation speed. When the fan is in the high duty cycle, a second circuit loop is switched on, so that the rotation speed of fan does not be limited to a constant rotation-speed as the fan enters the back-pressure area. Thus, the fan has larger airflow quantity and higher airflow pressure.

A device for improving efficiency of an induction motor that soft-starts the motor by applying a voltage to the motor that is substantially less than the rated voltage then gradually increasing the voltage while monitoring changes in current drawn by the motor, thereby detecting when maximum efficiency is found. Once maximum efficiency is found, the nominal motor current is found and operating ranges are set. Now, the voltage to the motor is increased/decreased by measuring the phase angle between the voltage and the current to the motor and increasing the voltage when the phase angle is less than a minimum phase angle (determined during soft-start) and decreasing the voltage when the phase angle is greater than or equal to the minimum phase angle as long as the voltage does not fall below a minimum voltage determined during soft-start.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to compensating for force ripple of an apparatus driven by a force produced by a linear motor. In one embodiment, a method of compensating for force ripple comprises generating force commands for a trajectory starting at a plurality of starting positions of the apparatus driven by the linear motor to produce different trajectory motions based on the same trajectory at the plurality of starting positions, the force commands each including peaks of large acceleration/deceleration and valleys of low force levels; calculating an average of the force commands during large acceleration/deceleration generated based on trajectory motions for the plurality of starting positions; calculating a variation ratio of the force command for each trajectory motion to the calculated average of the force commands; and compensating for force ripple in the apparatus based on the calculated variation ratio to control the force applied by the linear motor to the apparatus.

A method and a control device for regulating a drive device includes an electric motor with a motor shaft and a converter for supplying power to the electric motor. To this end, measured values of measured variables, which characterize a power loss of the drive device, are detected and a converter output voltage is adjusted depending on the detected measured values in such a way that the power loss decreases.
