Abstract:
An apparatus for the preparation of a mixture of toner resin and initiator, to form a toner resin or toner mixture including cross-linked microgel particles is provided. The apparatus includes a toner extruder having the resin being conveyed therethrough and an adder for adding the initiator to the toner resin in the toner extruder to form the toner resin or mixture. The apparatus also includes a measurer for measuring the cross-linked microgel particles in the toner mixture substantially immediately after mixing in the toner extruder and transmitting a signal indicative of the quantity of cross-linked microgel particles in the toner resin or mixture. The apparatus also includes a controller for controlling the addition rate of initiator in response to the signals from the measurer.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus (10) for detection of the degree of cure of a polymer in situ and non-invasively. The method and apparatus uses a solvatochromic probe molecule which upon curing produces a shift in the fluorescence emission spectrum as compared to a liquid polymerizable composition. The method and apparatus is particularly adapted for poly(vinyl) polymers. Preferred solvatochromic probe molecules are oxazones and pyrene.
Abstract:
The present invention provides novel dental impression materials, the cure of which can be monitored visually, comprising: (1) a curable silicone polymer; (2) a crosslinker compound containing silicon-bonded-hydrogen groups; (3) a hydrosilation catalyst; and (4) one or more cure-indicating dyes that exhibit a color change in the presence of a silicon-bonded-hydrogen compound and a hydrosilation catalyst. The cure-indicating dye provides the composition with an initial pre-cure color and a different post-cure color. As a result of this change in color, the state of cure of the impression material can be visually monitored.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a novel method for determining the degree of cure of polyester and epoxy resins which includes the steps of adding a catalyst, containing a pigment, to the resin; mixing the two components to provide a visually uniform distribution of the catalyst and pigment throughout the resin; and, depositing the mixture in a desired position for curing. The pigment can also be added directly to the resin rather than the catalyst. Additionally, in either alternative, at the completion of the curing the color imparted by the pigment has substantially disappeared from the cured product as though no pigment had been employed. Also disclosed is a novel benzoyl peroxide paste composition, for curing polyester resins, having a pigment the color of which substantially disappears from the cured product.
Abstract:
A photocurable silicone composition is disclosed. The composition comprises 4,5,6,7-tetrachloro-3′,6′-dihydroxy-2′,4′,5′,7′-tetraiodospiro[2-benzofuran-3,9′-xanthen]-1-one as a photochromic pigment. The photochromic pigment is present in an amount of from about 0.001 to about 0.05 mass % of a total amount of the composition. The composition can indicate a cure point thereof by disappearance of color.
Abstract:
The invention relates to novel batches of cross-linking agents, containing marking substances, to novel cross-linkable rubber mixtures, to a method for the production thereof and to the use of same.
Abstract:
Described herein is an epoxy composition comprising: a first component comprising an amine-based curing agent and a first dye, having a first color; and a second component comprising a curable epoxy resin and a second dye, having a second color. Also described herein is a shelf-life-indicating composition comprising: an amine-based curing agent; and a dye selected from (i) a cationic triarylmethane dye, wherein the cationic triarylmethane dye reversibly reacts with a primary amine; (ii) a halochromic dye having a color transition range between 7-12 when measured in an aqueous solution; or (iii) combinations thereof.
