Abstract: A variable-color region (106) of a tennis-playing structure of an information-presentation structure extends to an exposed surface (102) at a surface zone (112), normally appears along it as a principal color, and includes impact-sensitive and color-change components (182 and 184). A segment (192) of the impact-sensitive component responds to an object (104), typically a tennis ball, impacting the zone at an object-contact area (116) by providing an impact effect if the impact meets threshold impact criteria. A segment (194) of the color-change component responds to the impact effect by causing an impact-dependent portion (138) of the variable-color region to temporarily appear along a closely matching print area (118) of the zone as changed color materially different from the principal color. The zone adjoins a serviceline (34), the centerline (36), a sideline (30), or a baseline (28) to help determine whether a tennis ball impacted the surface “in” or “out”.

Abstract: A variable-color region (106) of an information-presentation structure extends to an exposed surface (102) at a surface zone (112) and normally appears along it as a principal color. An object-tracking control apparatus (808) tracks movement of an object (104) over the surface. As the object impacts the zone at an object-contact area (116), an impact-dependent portion (138) of the VC region temporarily appears along a print area (118) of the zone as changed color materially different from the principal color if the impact meets threshold impact criteria and if the tracking indicates that the object is highly likely to impact the object-contact area. The print area closely matches the object-contact area in size, shape, and location. Impacts of bodies not tracked by the control apparatus substantially do not cause color change so that color change occurs substantially only for suitable impacts of the tracked object.

Abstract: An example disclosed method for registering an unregistered radio frequency (RF) location tag carried by a participant includes receiving blink data from an unregistered RF location tag; determining a tag location based on the blink data received from the unregistered RF location tag; directing a camera to view the tag location determined based on the blink data received from the unregistered RF location tag; identifying a participant at the tag location using image data obtained by the camera; and registering the unregistered RF location tag with the identified participant.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method and system for 3D online sports athletics. The system comprises a cloud server and several head-mounted devices having a virtual reality function, wherein each of the head-mounted devices is paired with an intelligent terminal having a step counting function; a 3D scene virtualizing unit of the head-mounted device virtualizing a 3D online sports athletics scene to display the virtualized objects of all the head-mounted device users that participate in the sports athletics; a wirelessly connecting unit, during the process of the sports athletics, wirelessly connecting the intelligent terminal that it is paired with and the cloud server; and a processing unit acquiring, in real time, step counting data of the intelligent terminal that it is paired with and uploading the step counting data to the cloud server, and acquiring the step counting data of other head-mounted devices from the cloud server, driving the 3D scene virtualizing unit to display online the step counting data of each of the head-mounted device users in its 3D online running athletics scene, to realize sports athletics where a plurality of persons are simultaneously online. The present disclosure, by combining the head-mounted device and the intelligent terminals having a step counting function, can realize remote running appointment.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer readable media are disclosed for providing interference rejection in ultra-wideband real time locating systems. In one embodiment, an ultra-wideband (UWB) receiver is configured to: receive an interference signal from a source positioned outside a monitored region; receive a composite signal transmitted from a tagged object moving about a playing field within the monitored region, wherein the composite signal comprises a location signal and a component of the interference signal; detect whether the component of the interference signal exceeds a threshold value; and adjust, via a processor, filtering of the composite signal to attenuate the component of the interference signal based on whether the component of the interference signal exceeds the threshold value. Some embodiments provide for filtering of the composite signal using a combiner while others employ a tunable notch filter. Corresponding systems, methods, and computer-readable storage medium are also provided.

Abstract: A location-and-event-tracking system includes radio-enabled anchors and tags on a field of play, e.g., a basketball court. Tags are attached to players and to balls or other game-play objects. The system determines the location in space of each of the tags. For tags connected to game-play objects, the system evaluates proximity to players to assess possession of the game-play object. If the game-play-object tag is not sufficiently close to a player for the player to be in possession of the object, the position of the game-play object is evaluated to determine whether the game-pay object is in a goal zone region. If so and the game-play object has been within an attempt zone, i.e., a sub-zone within the goal zone region, then the system determines whether a goal has been made by evaluating whether the game-play object passed in order through a number of sub-regions before, at, and after the goal.
