摘要: An apparatus and method for resuscitating a patient suffering from cardiac arrest or another condition in which normal circulation has been interrupted. A ventilator is used for delivering a gas mixture to the patient. The ventilator is configured to adjust the partial pressure of CO2 to one or more partial pressures high enough to slow expiration of CO2 from the patient's lungs and thereby maintain a reduced pH in the patient's tissues for a period of time following return of spontaneous circulation.

摘要: Disclosed is a ventilator comprising a ventilation device which produces a respiratory gas flow for ventilating at least one patient and sets the respiratory gas flow to at least one ventilation pressure depending on at least one respiratory phase of the patient. Provision is made of a monitoring device which is suitable and configured for monitoring a synchronicity between respiratory phase and target ventilation pressure and, to this end, capturing a characteristic signal for the ventilation pressure and a characteristic signal for the respiratory phase of the patient and comparing the two signals to one another and determining a characteristic for the synchronicity on the basis of the comparison.

摘要: A method of controlling a ventilator to provide spontaneous breathing support includes determining a target CO2 value, determining a support pressure, detecting a patient-generated spontaneous breath, and delivering ventilation gas to the patient based on the support pressure. A patient CO2 is then measured, along with measuring at least one of a patient breath rate and a breath volume. The patient CO2 is compared to the target CO2 value. The patient's respiratory drive is determined based on at least one of the patient breath rate and the breath volume. If elevated respiratory drive is detected, then the support pressure is adjusted accordingly. If elevated respiratory drive is not detected, then the target CO2 value is adjusted based on the measured patient CO2.

摘要: Systems and methods of control of a mechanical ventilator include receiving machine data from a mechanical ventilator. A surgical event is detected in the received machine data. Clinical events within the surgical event are detected in the machine data. The machine data and the detected plurality of clinical events are evaluated for compliance with lung protective ventilation recommendations.

摘要: A Moving Window Least Squares (MWLS) approach is applied to estimate respiratory system parameters from measured air flow and pressure. In each window, elastance Ers (or resistance Rrs) is first estimated, and a Kalman filter may be applied to the estimate. This is input to a second estimator that estimates R (or E), to which a second Kalman filter may be applied. Finally, the estimated Ers and Rrs are used to calculate muscle pressure Pmus(t) in the time window. A system comprises a ventilator (100), an airway pressure sensor (112), and an air flow sensor (114), and a respiratory system analyzer (120) that performs the MWLS estimation. Estimated results may be displayed on a display (110) of the ventilator or of a patient monitor. The estimated Pmus(t) may be used to reduce patient-ventilator dyssynchrony, or integrated to generate a Work of Breathing (WOB) signal for controlling ventilation.
