Abstract:
In one aspect, a method of communicating via a wireless medium by a wireless communications apparatus within a network is provided. The method includes detecting an operating characteristic associated with a load of the network. The method further includes determining a process for adjusting a size of a contention window in response to a successful transmission of a frame based on the detected operating characteristic, the contention window being provided for determining a deferral period for deferring access to the wireless medium. The method further includes transmitting information indicating the process to one or more wireless devices operating within the network.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating in a wireless communication system are described. Various processes for detecting and correcting communication errors described. In aspect a method in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes transmitting a first packet from a sending device to a receiving device. The method further includes listening for an acknowledgement during a first time period. The method further includes transmitting a second packet to the receiving device after a second time period, when an acknowledgement is not received during the first time period. The second packet includes one or more error-correction codes operable to recover the first packet.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication. In one aspect, an apparatus for wireless communication is provided. The apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a wireless signal comprising a packet. At least a portion of the wireless signal may be received over a channel with a channel bandwidth of at least approximately five hundred megahertz. The packet may be formed from at least one orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol comprising at least one hundred and twenty-eight tones. The apparatus further comprises a processor configured to evaluate the wireless signal. The processor may comprise a transform module configured to convert the at least one OFDM symbol into a frequency domain signal.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for multiple user uplink are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, at an access point, ranging information from a plurality of wireless devices. The method further includes determining a timing adjustment, for each of the plurality of wireless devices, based on the ranging information. The method further includes transmitting a timing adjustment message to each wireless device, the timing adjustment message indicating the timing adjustment. The method further includes transmitting a scheduling message instructing the plurality of wireless devices to transmit uplink data at a first reference time corrected by the timing adjustment.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of limiting wireless discovery range are described. A method may include determining, at a first device, a discovery range threshold that limits a distance from the first device at which a second device is operative to decode a discovery message. The method may include adjusting a transmission attribute at the first device based on the discovery range threshold. The method may include sending the discovery message in accordance with the adjusted transmission attribute.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose transmitting a feedback message to an access point. The feedback may comprise a beamforming extension field, which may carry per tone signal to noise ratio of a station. For certain aspects, the station transmitting the per-tone SNR may be a single user (SU)-capable device. For certain aspects, the station may indicate to the access point whether or not it has a maximum likelihood (ML) receiver.
Abstract:
A particular method includes receiving, at an access point, one or more request messages from one or more relay nodes, each of the one or more request messages is a probe request message or an association request message related to a station. The method includes selecting a communication path between the access point and the station based on the one or more request messages and sending a response message indicating the selected communication path.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides methods and apparatuses for multiple user uplink. One aspect of the disclosure provides a method for wireless communication. The method comprises receiving a first wireless message from an access point indicating an uplink transmission opportunity and a target transmission duration for each of a plurality of user terminals including a first user terminal. The method also comprises changing a planned transmission duration of a second wireless message from the first user terminal to fit the target transmission duration. The method also comprises transmitting the second wireless message from the first user terminal over the target transmission duration.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for multiple user uplink are provided. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication is provided. The method includes transmitting a first message to at least two stations. The first message indicates a second message to be transmitted to at least two stations after the first message. The method further includes transmitting the second message to the at least two stations. The method further includes receiving a plurality of uplink data from the at least two stations in response to the second message.
Abstract:
Techniques to enhance the performance in a wireless communication system using segments called subbands and using precoding are shown. According to one aspect, the bandwidth for transmission to an access terminal is constrained to a preferred bandwidth which is less than the bandwidth available for transmission to an access terminal and precoding information related to the subcarriers within the constrained bandwidth is provided to a transmitter. The precoding information related to the subcarriers within a constrained bandwidth provides feedback about the forward link channel properties relative to different subbands and may be fed back on a channel associated with the bandwidth.
