Abstract:
A communication management method and apparatus is presented. Such method and apparatus operate to transmit, from an application computer in communication with a gatekeeper which is connected to a data network, messages indicative of (a) telephone calls in progress at an endpoint of the data network, or (b) such endpoint, and to transmit, from the gatekeeper to the application computer, messages indicative of a variety of information contained in the telephone calls so as to process such information for a variety of applications. The invention provides protocols for classifying incoming messages and prioritizing these messages for the presentation to, and utilization by, a system user.
Abstract:
A system and method for provide a stable gain from an adaptive gain control device in a signal path. An echo canceller is also located in the signal path, and is used to provide performance information regarding losses in the signal. This performance information is fed to the automatic gain control device via a connection. The automatic gain control device thereafter uses the performance information to determine a maximum gain that might be provided based upon losses cause by echo conditions. The gain however is limited in order to provide for a stable system. The performance information includes a loss rate that includes a combination of the echo return loss and the echo return loss enhancement.
Abstract:
An Internet telephone system and telephone apparatus for making an Internet telephone call by entering a telephone number. The system includes a telephone set, a modem, a partner side telephone set, its modem, and a server connected to the Internet for registering a telephone number and an IP address corresponding to the telephone number by relating to each other. The modem, when assigned with an IP address from an Internet service provider, transmits this IP address and the telephone number of the telephone set connected to itself to the server, and registers them. The telephone set and the modem, receiving the telephone number of the partner side telephone set, make a connection operation by acquiring the IP address corresponding to the partner telephone number from the server.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are presented for transmitting, from an application computer in communication with a gatekeeper which is connected to a data network, messages indicative of telephone calls in progress at an endpoint of the data network, or indicative of such endpoint, and transmitting, from the gatekeeper to the application computer, messages indicative of a variety of information contained in the telephone calls so as to process such information for a variety of applications. The invention contains a method for providing to a user of the system information relative to the incoming caller and to the subject of the call.
Abstract:
A VoIP gateway system for use in the IP network comprises a plurality of voice processing units, each having a unique IP address and a main processing unit connected via a HUB. The voice processing units and the main processing unit share the local LAN for sending and receiving a voice data packet by connecting the PSTN and the IP network. The load concentration on the system bus is reduced, thus effectively increasing the number of lines which can be handled for one voice processing unit. When transferring a packet to the IP network, only the IP address of the main processing unit is managed by the gatekeeper, thus effectively performing the IP address management at the gatekeeper.
Abstract:
System and method for processing communication signals in a communication system having a detector for detecting a parameter of a communication signal. A communication signal is provided to a non-linear processor (NLP) adapted to examine the signal and to decide whether or not to enter an active state based upon a parameter of the signal. If the NLP enters an active state, the NLP performs non-linear processing on the signal. The NLP communicates to the detector whether the NLP is active or inactive. If the NLP is active, a processing step of the detector is disabled.
Abstract:
An application for enabling a client to interact with communication-center resources has an interactive client interface component operable by the client for posting client data and for receiving and displaying agent and interaction data from the communication center, a brokering component for managing client and communication center data and communication, and a status monitoring and reporting component for monitoring and reporting communication center and client status. The application is characterized in that a client using the user interface is enabled to access and alter communication center data, and also to initiate live interaction with the communication center. The application is described in relation to Internet uses and system architecture as well.
Abstract:
A network-based system is provided for enabling agent-users of the system to obtain current client-status information related to clients of an information-source facility connected to the network in order to optimize callback-connection success from the agent-users to the monitored clients. The system comprises, a first server node connected to the information-source facility and to the network, a second server node connected to the first server node and to the network, the second server node accessible to the first server node, a network-capable appliance connected to the network, the second server node accessible to the network-capable appliance, an agent workstation connected to the network and to the first server node, the first server node accessible to the agent workstation and a software application distributed on at least the first and second server nodes, the software application enabling distribution of the client-status information. The agent-user operating the agent workstation accesses the first server node and subscribes to the client-status information, the client-status information is accessed from the second server node by the first server node and delivered to the requesting agent-user.
Abstract:
Systems and methods by which voice/data communications may occur in multiple modes/protocols are disclosed. In particular, systems and methods are provided for multiple native mode/protocol voice and data transmissions and receptions with a computing system having a multi-bus structure, including, for example, a TDM bus and a packet bus, and multi-protocol framing engines. Such systems preferably include subsystem functions such as PBX, voice mail and other telephony functions, LAN hub and data router. In preferred embodiments, a TDM bus and a packet bus are intelligently bridged and managed, thereby enabling such multiple mode/protocol voice and data transmissions to be intelligently managed and controlled with a single, integrated system. A computer or other processor includes a local area network controller, which provides routing and hub(s) for one or more packet networks. The computer also is coupled to a buffer/framer, which serves to frame/deframe data to/from the computer from TDM bus. The buffer/framer includes a plurality of framer/deframer engines, supporting, for example, ATM and HDLC framing/deframing. The buffer/framer is coupled to the TDM bus by way of a switch/multiplexer, which includes the capability to intelligently map data traffic between the buffer/framer and the TDM bus to various slots of the TDM frames. Preferably, a DSP pool is coupled to buffer/framer in a manner to provide various signal processing and telecommunications support, such as dial tone generation, DTMF detection and the like. The TDM bus is coupled to a various line/station cards, serving to interface the TDM bus with telephone, facsimiles and other telecommunication devices, and also with a various digital and/or analog WAN network services.
