The present invention relates to a multilayer structure-based image coding and decoding method. The present invention provides a method of using an intra prediction mode of a corresponding block of a lower layer in intra-frame predictive coding of a target block of an upper layer to increase coding efficiency and decrease complexity by removing redundancy from inter-layer intra prediction mode information.

An encoding apparatus and a decoding apparatus supporting a scalable multichannel audio signal, and methods performed by the apparatuses art provided. When compressing and decompressing a multichannel audio signal to compress and reproduce high quality 3-dimensional (3D) audio, the apparatuses and the methods in integrated form of (1) a sound quality scalability function for providing various qualities of audio adaptively to a transmission environment, terminal performance, and a listening environment (2) a channel scalability function for providing multichannel signals of various formats adaptively to the transmission environment, the terminal performance, and a reproduction environment of a terminal, such as speaker arrangement, and (3) an object scalability function for independently controlling a particular audio object to maximize a 3D sound field effect.

According to the present invention, an image encoding/decoding method comprises the steps of: performing an intra prediction on a current block so as to generate a prediction block; performing filtering on a filtering target pixel in the prediction block on the basis of the intra prediction mode of the current block so as to generate a final prediction block; and generating a reconstructed block on the basis of a reconstructed differential block corresponding to the current block and on the final prediction block. According to the present invention, image encoding/decoding efficiency can be improved.

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for setting a reference picture index of a temporal merging candidate. An inter-picture prediction method using a temporal merging candidate can include the steps of: determining a reference picture index for a current block; and inducing a temporal merging candidate block of the current block and calculating a temporal merging candidate from the temporal merging candidate block, wherein the reference picture index of the temporal merging candidate can be calculated regardless of whether a block other than the current block is decoded. Accordingly, a video processing speed can be increased and video processing complexity can be reduced.

An image decoding method, according to the present invention, includes the steps of: deriving an MPM candidate mode from neighboring blocks adjacent to a target block to be decoded; generating an MPM list using the MPM candidate mode derived from the neighboring blocks; and deriving an intra prediction mode for the target block to be decoded using the generated MPM list. According to the present invention, image compression efficiency can be improved.

An image decoding method can include: a step of determining the information related to a plurality of spatial candidate prediction motion vectors from peripheral predicted blocks of a predicted target block; and a step of determining the information related to temporal candidate prediction motion vectors on the basis of the information related to the plurality of spatial candidate prediction motion vectors. Accordingly, the present invention can reduce complexity and can enhance coding efficiency when inducing the optimum prediction motion vector.
