    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for controlling transition of an operation state of a cell in a wireless communication system. The cell includes a transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals to and from a terminal and another cell. The cell also includes a controller configured to transition an operation state of the cell from an active state to a dormant state, transmit a discovery signal, determine whether a cell activation signal is received from a node that controls the cell, and transition the operation state of the cell from the dormant state to the active state when the cell activation signal is received.

    Abstract: A feedback method and apparatus is provided for facilitating feedback in a Cooperative Multi-Point (CoMP) system in which multiple base stations cooperate with each other for downlink transmission to a terminal. The feedback method of a terminal includes determining whether the terminal is operating in cooperative multi-point mode for receiving data from a plurality of cells; estimating, when the terminal is operating in cooperative multi-point mode, channels of the cells belonging to a measurement set based on channel status information reference signals for the cells; selecting at least one best cell based on a signal-to-interference plus noise ratio based on the estimated channels; and feeding back a cell index and channel information of the best cell.

    Abstract: An apparatus and a method of measuring a reference signal for efficient downlink transmission in a mobile communication system are provided. The system includes plural base stations, each having a plurality of antennas distributed in the service area thereof based on a Distributed Antenna System (DAS).     Abstract: The disclosure relates to a fifth generation (5G) or sixth generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. A method for improving the coverage of an uplink channel for uplink transmission is provided. The method includes receiving, from a base station, configuration information including resource allocation information for transport block (TB) processing over multiple slots (TBoMS), repetitive transmission configuration information, and frequency hopping information, identifying whether repetitive transmission of the TBoMS is configured, based on the configuration information, determining a frequency hopping pattern between TBoMS repetitive transmissions based on the frequency hopping information and a number of slots for frequency hopping in case that the repetitive transmission of the TBoMS is configured, and performing the repetitive transmission of the TBoMS based on the frequency hopping pattern.
