Abstract: Techniques are described to provide for authentication and subscription management that are decoupled from a Home Subscriber Server (HSS). In one example, a method includes providing a device profile at an authentication function, wherein the device profile comprises identification information for a device for a plurality of access types including a first identifier for the device associated with a cellular access and a second identifier for the device associated with a wireless local area network access; obtaining an access request message associated with the device for the cellular access, wherein the access request message comprises the first identifier and an authentication attribute; generating authentication information for authenticating the device for the cellular access based, at least in part, on the authentication attribute; and generating, for transmission, an access accept message for the cellular access, wherein the access accept message comprises the first identifier, the second identifier, and the authentication information.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a supervisory service receives a registration message broadcast by a first vehicle and captured by a RSU in the network of RSUs. The supervisory service registers the first vehicle by validating a signature of the registration message without registering a media access control (MAC) address of the first vehicle and without causing to send a registration response to the first vehicle. The supervisory service receives a message broadcast by a second vehicle addressed to the first vehicle and captured by at least one RSU in the network of RSUs. The supervisory service selects one or more RSUs in the network of RSUs to re-broadcast the message. The supervisory service controls the one or more RSUs to re-broadcast the message.

Abstract: A control plane of a network, including radios of a radio access network controlled by the control plane and user plane functions controlled by the control plane, establishes first and second protocol data unit (PDU) connections each to handle the same flows of traffic for ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) from user equipment to a data network through first and second source radios, respectively. Due to mobility of the user equipment, the control plane relocates the flows from the first and second source radios to first and second target radios, respectively. To relocate the flows, the control plane receives from the first target radio a notification that identifies flows that cannot be activated on the first target radio. In response to the notification, the control plane commands the first target radio to prioritize the flows that cannot be activated above remaining ones of the flows.

Abstract: A local mobility anchor (LMA) connected to a network receives session requests sent by first and second gateways on behalf of a mobile node seeking to establish a mobility session with the network. The LMA selects, based on a gateway selection criterion, either a first or a second gateway as active for actively handling the mobility session and the other gateway as standby. The LMA commands the active gateway to actively handle the mobility session and to configure the mobile node to use the active gateway for the mobility session. The LMA commands the standby gateway to not configure the mobile node and to operate in active standby to handle a failover of the mobility session from the primary gateway. The LMA establishes with the active gateway a first IP tunnel to be used for the mobility session.

The method further comprises: instantiating, between the base station and the networking device, a first data tunnel associated with a first tunneling protocol; instantiating, between the networking device and the first WLAN termination node, a second data tunnel associated with a second tunneling protocol; and associating the first and second data tunnels.

Abstract: Embodiments include technologies for receiving two or more requests to join a network from an end device via two or more gateways, respectively, and selecting one of the two or more gateways for the end device. Embodiments further include sending, to the selected gateway, a response to a request to join the network received via the selected gateway, where the response includes an indication to the selected gateway to forward the request to join the network to an edge network server associated with the selected gateway.
