摘要: The system utilizes conductivity equipment as well as a camera, pressure sensor, and acoustic hydrophone within a probe deployed via cable into a pipe to be inspected. The probe completes an electric circuit back to ground when the probe is adjacent a defect through which electric currents can pass, thus producing varying electric current. The camera, incorporated into the electric probe, is utilized for both inspection and navigation through the pipe by providing a close-circuit video data feed. The pressure sensor detects alterations in the pressure and flow field of the fluidic region in the area of a leak. The acoustic hydrophone listens for the sound leaks in a pressurized pipeline. The inspection device is tethered to a cable and inserted a measured distance into the pipeline, typically with the pipeline under pressure, via a launch tube. Multi-sensor data versus pipeline position is thus obtained.

摘要: The pipeline leak detector is a mobile device having a pressure sensor array for travel within a fluid pipeline for leak detection in the pipe wall. The sensor array is positioned close to the internal surface of the pipe wall and rotates circumferentially about the surface of the pipe wall as the device travels through the pipe, thus describing a helical path along the pipe wall to cover the entire internal surface of the pipe wall with a minimal number of sensors. The sensors comprise tubes with conical mouths, and flexible members and strain gauges within the tubes. Pressure changes due to leaks cause the flexible members to move, with the strain gauges sending signals to a central processor to indicate a leak. The device is supported by a drive wheel, a driven wheel, and an idler wheel bearing against the internal surface of the pipe and evenly circumferentially spaced.

摘要: Monitoring and analysis method of the conditions of a pipeline, comprising: providing an inspection device (1) in expanded polymeric or elastomeric material comprising at least one measurement instrument (2, 3), said measurement instrument including at least one casing and at least one sensor; introducing said inspection device into the pipeline (5); recovering said inspection device; wherein said casing is made of polymeric or elastomeric material, having a density, measured according to the regulation ASTM D3574, higher than or equal to 30 kg/m3, preferably ranging from 700 to 2,000 kg/m3. Said method allows the continuous registration and storage of useful parameters for revealing defects and/or anomalies inside the pipeline (5) that transports gas and/or liquids, as well as possible variations in the internal diameter of the same.

摘要: A method of hydrostatic testing a selected section of a pipeline having fluid flow therethrough, including the steps of introducing into the pipeline a pig train including a leading seal pig, a supply liquid slug, a first isolation tool, a test liquid slug and a second isolation tool; permitting the train to traverse the pipeline interior by the force of fluid flow until the lead isolation tool is forwardly of and the second isolation tool is rearwardly of the selected selection of the pipeline; securing the position of the pig train by applying exteriorly of the pipeline appropriate signals to actuate the isolation tools to each engage and seal the interior of the pipeline trapping the test liquid slug therebetween; and pumping liquid from the supply liquid slugs into the test liquid slug to a hydrostatic testing pressure. In addition to testing, the pipeline can be repaired by moving the pig train into position where a defective area can be isolated by additional isolation tools.

摘要: A device for locating leaks in a pipe includes a leak locator probe (139) that is suitable for being transported along a length of pipe. The leak locator probe (139) includes a tube (148) that is closed at one end and open at the other end. An aperture (126) provides an air flow passageway between the interior of the tube and an annular volume exterior to the tube (148) as defined by the exterior walls of the tube (148), annular rings (146) and the interior walls of the pipe. Cables (158) and (158a) are utilized to reciprocate the leak locator probe (139) within the pipe. During operation, the leak locator probe (139) is inserted into the pipe in sealing contact therewith. The pipe is pressurized adjacent the open end of the probe (139) with the annular volume between the rings (146) pressurized through the orifice. When encountering a leak adjacent the annular volume, air is caused to flow through the aperture (136). A check valve (66) prevents air from flowing from the exterior of the tube (148) to the interior thereof.

摘要: For sealing a pipeline at selective locations in order to perform leak tests, a pipeline packer assembly capable of internal travel within the pipeline can be moved to and stopped at selected locations and the packer inflated against the interior pipe walls to prevent further movement of the unit, and to provide a seal so that the pipeline may be subjected to internal high pressures to detect leaks. According to the invention, a control device for such unit comprises a gamma ray detector and signal processor receiving the electrical analogue signal from the gamma ray detector. An energizing signal from the signal processor actuates a stepping switch which provides "inflate" and "deflate" energization of the packer, and is kept in "off" condition while the packer is inoperative as in transit within the pipeline. A radiation source on the surface or selectively inserted into a bore hole near the pipeline provides a stimulus for the gamma ray detector which controls the operation of the stepping switch. The insertion and subsequent withdrawal of the radiation source from the vicinity of the pipe adjacent the control unit, successively causes the successive stepping of the stepping switch to "inflate", "deflate" and "off" conditions. The assembly is moved through the pipeline at low pressure, and the pipeline subjected to high pressure behind the packer when it is inflated, thereby to permit leak detection at successive locations within the pipeline.
