Abstract: A device for electrically measuring a force includes a load cell having a first metal electrode and a second metal electrode disposed opposite thereof in the direction of the force, each having contact surfaces in which the force to be measured can be impressed, and electrical resistance in the range of a few milliohms to less than or equal to ten ohms and a mean roughness value (Ra) of less than or equal to 400 nanometers, for forming force-independent conductivity, a thin insulating film disposed between the first and second metal electrodes in a form-locked manner, a reference metal electrode disposed on a section of the thin insulating film such that it is force-decoupled from the first metal electrode and tensioned with respect to the second metal electrode at a constant retaining force by a fastening element, and a measuring circuit designed as a half bridge or a full bridge.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a sensor. In particular, the present invention is related to a MEMS strain gauge die and its fabrication process. The MEMS strain gauge die comprises a handle, a device layer and a cap all connected together. A silicon oxide layer is formed between the handle and the device layer. Another silicon oxide layer is formed between the device layer and the cap. Recesses are respectively formed on the handle and the cap and face each other. The handle recess and the cap recess are connected to form a cavity. The device layer, which spans the cavity, further comprises a bridge on which a plurality of piezoresistive sensing elements are formed. The present strain gauge die is more immune to temperature effects. It is especially suitable for operating in a high temperature environment and is capable of delivering accurate and reliable strain measurements at low cost.

Abstract: An article of footwear includes an upper member and a sole structure, with a sensor system connected to the sole structure. The sensor system includes a plurality of sensors that are configured for detecting forces exerted by a user's foot on the sensor. The sensor system also includes a port that is configured to receive a module to place the module in communication with the sensors. The port includes a housing with a chamber configured to receive the module and an interface engaged with the housing and having at least one electrical contact exposed to the chamber. Additional retaining structure and interface structure may be included.

Abstract: Provided in the present disclosure is a fingerprint bookmark system which may be implemented in a vehicle with one or more configurable interior settings. The fingerprint bookmark system may contain a scanner which may be configured to record a fingerprint from a vehicle occupant such that a fingerprint image showing the fingerprint and a duration data for the fingerprint image are recorded by the scanner. The system may contain one or more processors which may be configured to compare the duration data associated with the fingerprint image with a duration threshold. The one or more processors may be configured to initiate a search to obtain a bookmark for the fingerprint shown in the fingerprint image when the duration data is less than the duration threshold. The one or more processors may be further configured to create a new bookmark when the duration data exceeds the duration threshold.

Abstract: Various sensor assemblies are described herein that can measure axial and lateral forces and/or axial and lateral torques acting on an instrument independent of steady state temperature variations. In one embodiment, the sensor assembly has a sensor body for coupling to the instrument such that a shaft and tip of the instrument extend from opposing ends of the sensor body. The sensor body has first and second strain sensing regions. The sensor assembly further includes first and second strain sensors coupled to and configured to measure axial strain of the first and second regions, respectively. During use, when the sensor body is coupled to the instrument, each of the first and second regions experience an opposite one of a tensile axial strain and a compressive axial strain in response to an axial force or an axial torque acting on the tip of the instrument.

Abstract: A device for delivering fluid to a user includes a housing, a drive motor assembly in the housing, a force sensor, and an electronics module. The drive motor assembly regulates delivery of fluid by actuating a piston of a fluid reservoir, and the force sensor generates output levels in response to force imparted thereto during, for example, fluid delivery operations. The electronics module processes the output levels of the force sensor to assess the operating health of the force sensor, to check for occlusions in the fluid delivery path, and to monitor the seating status of the fluid reservoir.
