Abstract:
A fixed, hollow, cylindrical, open ended electrically conductive cathode concentrically surrounds a hollow, cylindrical, electrically conductive anode. The anode is fixed upon an electrically conductive axle so as to allow the anode and axle to rotate inside the cathode. Electrically non-conductive brushes are mounted on the anode and rotate therewith, sweeping over the radially inner surface of the cathode. A water inlet housing at one end of the cathode and a water exhaust housing at the other end of the cathode cooperate to divert a stream of water in which salt has been dissolved between the anode and the cathode, the housings also supporting the conductive axle and allowing it to rotate. An electric motor rotates the axle.
Abstract:
A floor scrubbing apparatus includes a reservoir for an aqueous salt solution disposed in the floor scrubbing apparatus. An immersion device comprising a submersible housing with at least two iridium-coated electrodes spaced apart from each other within the submersible housing is adapted to be immersed into the reservoir. The floor scrubbing apparatus also includes a control module electrically coupled to the electrodes, wherein the control module controls application of electricity to cause a first electrode to be positively charged and a second electrode to be negatively charged.

An electrolysis mechanism for deployment in a reservoir of water, the electrolysis system having at least one rotating cathode mounted on an axle and configured to rotate during an electrolysis process, at least one stationary cathode cleaning element deployed so as to contact a face of the rotating cathode such that during the electrolysis process as the rotating cathode, rotates scale buildup on the rotating cathode is removed and at least one stationary anode deployed adjacent to the rotating cathode. A preferred embodiment of which includes a plurality of spaced apart rotating cathodes; a plurality of stationary cathode cleaning elements with one stationary cathode cleaning element deployed in each space between the rotating cathodes so as to contact a face of each of the rotating cathodes it is deployed between; and a plurality of stationary anodes such that at least one of stationary anode is deployed in each of the spaces between the rotating cathodes.
Abstract:
A halogen generator produces a halogen sanitizing agent to sanitize water in a spa or other water feature. A coaxial wall fitting desirably couples the halogen generator to the water feature. The halogen generator desirably includes a bipolar electrolytic cell in which a center electrode plate rotates between stationary anode and cathode plates. The bipolar electrode includes a plurality of vanes which motivate water flow between the anode and the cathode. The vanes on the rotating electrode also produce a flow of water through the generator. In this manner, the bipolar electrode functions as a impeller to pump water through the halogen generator. The vanes are positioned between the electrode and cathode, and are sufficiently spaced from the cathode to inhibit scale formation on the cathode. The vanes, however, generally do not contact the cathode when rotating. The rotational direction of the electrode relative to the cathode may be reversed periodically and/or the gap spacing between electrode and the cathode may be decreased periodically to enhance removal of scale.

The assembly comprises a non-permeable, electrically charged, rotated electrode, in use in contact with the first phase, to which the second phase is charged, and the reaction product of the two phases is removed from the electrode. A process of diaphragmless electrolysis comprises providing an electrochemical cell having substantially parallel electrodes in the form of discs axially spaced from each other and connected for common rotation about their axis, one of the discs having means defining a central opening, causing common rotation of the electrodes, introducing matter to be electrolyzed through said central opening, adjusting the speed of rotation until the profile of velocity of effective radial flow between the discs shows a double-humped distribution, and applying a potential between the discs.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises an electrolytic cell having a pair of terminal electrode located within a chamber and adapted top be connected to the poles of a D.C. source. A plurality of "bipolar electrodes" are located between the terminal electrodes and are arranged to be rotatable about an axis through their centers. The electrolyte is fed to the cell at radially inner portions of the cell and withdrawn at the periphery of the cell, such that electrolyte flow is radially outward through the cell. Due to the rotation of the bipolar electrodes relative to the chamber and to electrolyte passing through the cell, the tendency for solid products of the elecrolysis process to accumulate on the electrodes is considerably reduced.
