摘要: A neutralization cell is provided which may be used to increase a pH level of a chlorine solution. The neutralization cell includes a neutralization anode, a neutralization cathode, an inlet, and an outlet. The neutralization anode and the neutralization cathode are positioned to divide the neutralization cell into a middle area between the neutralization anode and the neutralization cathode, an anode area on a side of the neutralization anode furthest from the neutralization cathode, and a cathode area on a side of the neutralization cathode furthest from the neutralization anode. The inlet directs the chlorine solution into the neutralization cell by directing an incoming flow of the chlorine solution into the anode area. The outlet directs the chlorine solution out of the neutralization cell by directing an outgoing flow of the chlorine solution from the cathode area.

摘要: To provide a production method and a production apparatus of a sodium hypochlorite solution that can produce a sodium hypochlorite solution with a high available chlorine concentration at a low cost using an on-site facility. In production of a sodium hypochlorite solution by feeding secondary salt water as an aqueous sodium chloride solution, in an electrolyzer 10 comparted into an anode chamber 2 and a cathode chamber 3 by an ion-exchange membrane 1, to the anode chamber and, after electrolysis, introducing an anolyte and a generated chlorine gas in the anode chamber and an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution generated in the cathode chamber into a reaction tank 20 to allow the anolyte, the chlorine gas, and the generated aqueous sodium hydroxide solution as a catholyte to react in the reaction tank, a primary salt water generation step of dissolving raw salt G containing sodium chloride as a main component in purified water B to generate primary salt water, and a chelating step of chelating the primary salt water to generate secondary salt water A are included, in which a decomposition rate of salt ranges from 80 to 95%.

摘要: A method by which an environmental energy (e.g., wave energy) is harvested, converted into electrical power, and thereafter used to electrolyze seawater into hydrogen and chlorine gases. Those gases are recombined into hydrogen chloride from which is formed hydrochloric acid solution which is diluted and deposited at a depth sufficient to ensure its neutralization and sequestration for a significant period of time (e.g., for over a millennium). By removing chloride ions from a portion of the sea adjacent to its upper surface and depositing them into a portion of the sea more adjacent to its bottom, acidity is shifted from the surface to base of the sea, and the surface ocean is given a greater ability to absorb and buffer atmospheric carbon dioxide without a corresponding increase in acidity.

摘要: A system for controlling an electrochemical production process includes a variable controllable power circuit and an electrolytic cell. The cell includes two electrodes and operates in different states dependent on the potential difference across the electrodes. The system includes a power circuit controller that causes the power circuit to apply a given potential difference across the electrodes to initiate operation of the cell in the one of multiple possible states associated with the given potential difference. The possible states include a production state associated with a first non-zero potential difference in which a product of interest is produced, and an idle state associated with a second non-zero potential difference in which the product of interest is not produced. A monitoring and control subsystem maintains a predefined set of production process conditions, including a predefined operating temperature range, while the cell operates in both the production state and the idle state.

摘要: A water treatment system is disclosed having an electrolytic cell for liberating hydrogen from a base solution. The base solution may be a solution of brine for generating sodium hypochlorite or potable water to be oxidized. The cell has first and second opposing electrode end plates held apart from each other by a pair of supports such that the supports enclose opposing sides of the end plates to form a cell chamber. One or more inner electrode plates are spaced apart from each other in the cell chamber in between the first and second electrode plates. The supports are configured to electrically isolate the first and second electrode plates and the inner electrode plates from each other. The first and second electrode plates are configured to receive opposite polarity charges that passively charge the inner electrode plates via conduction from the base solution to form a chemical reaction in the base solution as the base solution passes through the cell chamber.

摘要: A method including capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) from air (e.g., atmosphere) in an absorber in which the air contacts a base (e.g., a hydroxide, such as potassium hydroxide KOH and/or sodium hydroxide (NaOH)) to produce a carbonate (e.g., potassium carbonate (K2CO3) and/or sodium carbonate (Na2CO3)); precipitating one or more (e.g., carbonate) salt from an aqueous solution comprising salt (a brine) to provide an aqueous solution comprising a chloride (e.g., potassium chloride (KCl) and/or sodium chloride (NaCl)); using electrochemical regeneration to convert the chloride to electrochemically regenerated product comprising the base (e.g., KOH and/or NaOH); and recycling at least a portion of the electrochemically regenerated product comprising the base to the capturing of the CO2 from the air. A system for carrying out the method is also provided.

摘要: An apparatus assembly and method for the electrolytic production of a hypochlorous (HOCl) acid solution are disclosed. A first controlled amount of water, such as tap water, a second controlled amount of an acidic solution (acetic acid or CH3COOH), and a third controlled amount of a sodium chloride (NaCl) solution, preferably from a brine solution, are mixed by injecting the same in a reaction loop comprising an electrolytic reactor configured to electrolyze the mixture into the HOCl solution. Preferably, the electrolytic reactor comprises DSA (dimensionally stable anodes). The mixture is circulated in the reaction loop until the HOCl solution is formed. The assembly can be monitored in real-time and remotely for quality control. The disinfecting solution as produced comprises 330-460 ppm HOCl at a pH between 5 and 6, preferably at a pH of 5.5, the solution being stable at least up to 6 months after being produced.
