Abstract: The present invention comprises an electrolytic cell having a pair of terminal electrode located within a chamber and adapted top be connected to the poles of a D.C. source. A plurality of "bipolar electrodes" are located between the terminal electrodes and are arranged to be rotatable about an axis through their centers. The electrolyte is fed to the cell at radially inner portions of the cell and withdrawn at the periphery of the cell, such that electrolyte flow is radially outward through the cell. Due to the rotation of the bipolar electrodes relative to the chamber and to electrolyte passing through the cell, the tendency for solid products of the elecrolysis process to accumulate on the electrodes is considerably reduced.
