Abstract: An apparatus for controlling an internal combustion engine is provided. An engine includes a compression release mechanism and a fuel injection valve. The compression release mechanism variably controls the opening degree of a valve member, and thereby connects the combustion chamber of the engine with at least one of the intake passage and the exhaust passage in order to release in-cylinder pressure during at least the compression stroke. A controller controls the fuel injection valve to execute coasting with the fuel cut off in which the fuel is cut off under a predetermined condition, and while executing coasting with the fuel cut off, controls the compression release mechanism to increase the opening degree of the valve member of the compression release mechanism as the speed of the engine is higher.

Abstract: A hybrid vehicle having a pendulum damper in which resonance at around an idling speed of an engine can be prevented to improve N.V. performance. The hybrid vehicle comprises an engine and at least one motor. In the hybrid vehicle, a power transmission path is formed between the engine and drive wheels. In the power transmission path, a pendulum damper is disposed to suppress torsional vibrations, and a disconnecting clutch is disposed to selectively interrupt power transmission between the engine and the pendulum damper.

Abstract: A first control unit executes a valve stop inertial running including stopping an intake valve and an exhaust valve in a closed state during rotation of an output shaft, stopping supply of fuel to an engine, and setting a clutch in an engaged state to drive pistons of the engine by a rotational force from driving wheels. A second control unit executes a valve operation running including operating the intake valve and the exhaust valve during the rotation of the output shaft, and supplying the fuel to the engine based upon an intake conduit pressure. When a cancellation request is made during execution of the valve stop inertial running, a transient control unit operates the intake valve and the exhaust valve, and controls a throttle valve to an idling opening or less, thereby supplying a negative pressure to an intake passage.

Abstract: A torsional vibration damper in which a noise resulting from collision of an inertia body against a rotary member is reduced. An inertia body is arranged coaxially with the rotary member, and rolling members are interposed between the rotary member and the inertial body to transmit torque of the rotary member to the inertia body. A first clearance between an outer circumference of a rotary member and an inner circumference of the inertia body created when rolling members are centrifugally pushed onto raceway surfaces is identical to or narrower than a second clearance between one of the rolling members situated at a highest level and a bottom surface of a guide section.

Abstract: A torsional vibration damper in which a mass may be fitted easily into a chamber is provided. In the rotary disc, an insertion hole is formed integrally with the chamber. An opening diameter of the insertion hole is larger than an outer diameter of a flange plate of the mass, and an opening width at a boundary between the insertion hole and the chamber is larger than an outer diameter of a trunk of the mass. The retainer comprises a restricting portion that restricts an oscillating range of the mass in the chamber.

Abstract: A vehicle having a valve stop mode control unit configured such that an intake valve and an exhaust valve are stopped in a closed state during rotation of an output shaft, supply of fuel to an engine is stopped, a clutch is made to be in an engaged state, and pistons are driven by rotational forces from driving wheels through the output shaft. When there is a request for valve stop inertial running, a negative pressure is supplied to an intake passage by a vacuum pump.
