Abstract:
The invention provides a process for the fine division of pigments which comprises dissolving coarsely crystalline crude pigments in a solvent and precipitating them with a liquid precipitation medium by spraying the pigment solution and the precipitation medium through nozzles to a point of conjoint collision in a reactor chamber enclosed by a housing in a microjet reactor, a gas or an evaporating liquid being passed into the reactor chamber through an opening in the housing for the purpose of maintaining a gas atmosphere in the reactor chamber, and the resulting pigment suspension and the gas or the evaporated liquid being removed from the reactor through a further opening in the housing by means of overpressure on the gas entry side or underpressure on the product and gas exit side.

Abstract:
The deliveries to the printing ink industry of pigment preparations in the form of flushed pastes increasingly take the form of containers. Given the required high pigment content of the pastes and the attendant high viscosity and thixotropy, there are very frequent problems with filling the containers and complaints concerning the emptying of the containers. There is a demand for a homogeneous, pumpable pigment paste having a long shelf life. According to the invention, this demand is met in the case of pigments based on arylpararosanillnesulfonic acids by the use of specific aids of the type of the condensation products of aliphatic amines or ammonium compounds with polyesters of hydroxy fatty acids as part of the flushing process of the pigment using the customary or slightly modified binder systems which for the same pigment contents bring about a distinctly lower viscosity and thixotropy. The printing properties are not adversely affected.
Abstract:
The invention provides a process for preparing azo colorants which comprises spraying one or more coupling components individually or in a mixture and one or more compatible diazonium salts individually or in a mixture, in their solution or suspension form through nozzles to a point of conjoint collision in a reactor chamber enclosed by a housing in a microjet reactor, a gas or an evaporating liquid being passed into the reactor chamber through an opening in the housing for the purpose of maintaining a gas atmosphere in the reactor chamber, and the resulting product solution or suspension and the gas or the evaporated liquid being removed from the reactor through a further opening in the housing by means of overpressure on the gas entry side or underpressure on the product and gas exit side.
Abstract:
The invention relates to mixtures of nitrogen-containing surface-active agents which are obtained by esterification of oxyalkylates based on modified or nonmodified naturally occurring resin acids or resin amines or resin alcohols derived therefrom with dicarboxylic acids or anhydrides thereof and subsequent reaction with alkylenediamines or alkylenepolyamines. These nitrogen-containing surface-active agents are suitable as coupling auxiliaries, emulsifiers, dispersing agents, preparation agents for solids dispersions, corrosion protection and metal-working agents and as wetting agents and dyeing auxiliaries.
Abstract:
Polymeric, water-soluble triazine compounds which contain both basic and acidic groups in the molecule have out-standing surfactant properties and are suitable for the preparation of dispersions of solids, preferably of dispersions of inorganic and/or organic pigments, in an aqueous or water-dilutable medium. Since these triazine compounds are colorless or only slightly colored, they do not influence the shade of the medium used.
Abstract:
The invention provides a process for the fine division of pigments which comprises spraying a coarsely crystalline crude pigment and/or a poorly dispersible prepigment in suspension form through nozzles to a point of conjoint collision in a reactor chamber enclosed by a housing in a microjet reactor, a gas or an evaporating liquid being passed into the reactor chamber through an opening in the housing for the purpose of maintaining a gas atmosphere in the reactor chamber, and the resulting pigment suspension and the gas or the evaporated liquid being removed from the reactor through a further opening in the housing by means of overpressure on the gas entry side or underpressure on the product and gas exit side.
Abstract:
Pulverulent pigment preparation comprising a) an organic or inorganic pigment, b) a compound from the group consisting of novolaks, alkoxylated fatty alcohols, bisphenol polyglycol ethers, alkoxylated fatty amines, alkoxylated fatty acids or the esterification and/or arylation products prepared from a natural or modified castor oil fatty compound, which are alkoxylated and, if desired, esterified with dicarboxylic acids to form linked structural repeating units, c) a water-soluble mixture of polyvinyl alcohol and vinyl alcohol or of vinyl alcohol copolymers, and d) further customary additives, the sum of all components being 100% by weight. Plasters and emulsion paints are pigmented by simply stirring in the pulverulent pigment preparation.
