Abstract:
User equipment (UE), an enhanced NodeB (eNB) and method of reducing handover latency are generally described. The UE may transmit measurement feedback to the eNB based on control signals. The UE may receive a reconfiguration message from the eNB or another eNB to the UE is attached. The reconfiguration message may contain reconfiguration information indicating whether or not a physical layer or layer 2 of the UE is to be reconfigured and/or a security key is to be updated. The reconfiguration information may be dependent on whether the handover is between eNBs controlled by a same entity and/or whether the handover comprises an intra-frequency transition. The UE or eNB may initiate handover of the UE. During handover the UE may avoid physical layer or layer 2 reconfiguration or the security key update. The security key and data for the UE may be provided directly between the eNBs.
Abstract:
Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, methods to establish and control communication of a dedicated device such as a dedicated user equipment (UE) with dedicated nodes of a network are provided.
Abstract:
A network device (e.g., an evolved Node B (eNB), user equipment (UE) or the like) can operate to reduce an interruption time during a fallback operation resulting from a communication link blockage condition (e.g., a human blockage or other natural/physical wireless blockage). The network device includes a network convergence protocol (NCP) layer that enables communication between other network devices of different radio access technologies (RATs) in a heterogeneous network.
Abstract:
Wireless communication traffic can be offloaded from a user equipment (UE) to two wireless points of access. For example, user equipment (UE) is connected to a radio access network (RAN) using a radio access technology (RAT) such as a long term evolution (LTE) network. The UE can determine which network capabilities are available for traffic offloading and adapt to the capabilities presented. In one embodiment, the UE can determine whether the network supports three different configurations and configure traffic offloading to operate within the network conditions: (1) RAN rules without access network detection and selection function (ANDSF), (2) ANDSF in conjunction with RAN rules or (3) enhanced ANDSF with RAN assistance.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure describe systems, devices, and methods for long-term evolution and wireless local area interworking. Various embodiments may include utilizing access network selection and traffic steering rules based on radio access network assistance parameters. Other embodiments may be described or claimed.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for bearer splitting among multiple radio links are disclosed herein. User equipment (UE) may be communicatively coupled to an Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) Node B (eNB) by multiple radio links (e.g., an LTE link and a WLAN link). A transmitter may dynamically determine a splitting policy for how to split traffic among each link (e.g., what proportion to send over each link). In some embodiments, the transmitter may determine the splitting policy explicitly based on lower layer metrics. Alternatively, or in addition, each radio access interface may request data when a transmission opportunity becomes available, and the splitting policy may be determined implicitly from the data requests. For a UE, the splitting policy may be determined with network assistance, which may include a resource allocation for an LTE link, a probability of successful transmission over a WLAN link, and/or the like.
Abstract:
Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) to support inter-frequency handover are disclosed herein. The UE may receive, from an Evolved Node-B (eNB), a measurement report configuration message that includes multiple measurement events to be determined at the UE. The UE may transmit a measurement report when a combined measurement event occurs. The combined measurement event may include a combination of the multiple measurement events according to a “logical AND” operator such that the combined measurement event occurs when the multiple measurement events occur. The measurement events may be related to signal measurements performed on one or more signals received at the UE from one or more cells configured for operation in the network.
Abstract:
Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems and methods of offloading traffic at a User Equipment (UE) based on a mobility state of a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Access Point (AP). For example, a UE may include a WLAN transceiver to communicate with a WLAN AP; a cellular transceiver to communicate with a cellular network; and an offloading module to determine a mobility of the WLAN AP, and to route traffic between the cellular network and the WLAN AP, based at least on the mobility of the WLAN AP and a mobility state of the UE.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards devices and methods for discovering and waking up dormant access nodes in cellular networks. In one embodiment, the dormant access nodes passively participate in a device-to-device discovery process to identify potential user equipment nearby. Upon identifying a potential user equipment, the dormant access node may wake itself up and inform a serving access node that that is able to service the user equipment. In another embodiment, dormant access nodes may transmit a discovery message periodically. Upon receiving the discovery message a user equipment may report the availability of the dormant access node to its serving access node.
Abstract:
In embodiments, apparatuses, methods, and storage media may be described for identifying subframes in a radio frame on which a UE may receive a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) or enhanced PDCCH (ePDCCH) transmission. Specifically, the UE may receive multiple indications of uplink/downlink (UL/DL) subframe configurations and identify one or more subframes in which the UE may receive the PDCCH or ePDCCH transmission. The UE may then monitor one or more of the identified subframes and base discontinuous reception (DRX) timer functionality on one or more of the identified subframes.
