    摘要: To prevent uncontrolled switching of a Schmitt trigger during supply voltage shutoff, the trigger input transistor is maintained in the conductive state independent of supply voltage by a voltage divider and an additional DC base voltage. A second voltage divider furnishes a voltage blocking the output transistor of the Schmitt trigger after the supply voltage sinks too low to maintain conduction of the first transistor. A first and second so constructed Schmitt trigger is connected, respectively, to the first and second output of a difference amplifier. The inputs of the difference amplifier are connected to a pulse generator. Since the DC operating point of the difference amplifier changes with supply voltage, a controllable current source is connected to the difference amplifier for opposing the changes in the operating point. The controllable current source is controlled by the output signal from a summing and comparator circuit which has a first set of inputs connected to the outputs of the difference amplifier and a reference input.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine is comprised of at least one engine cylinder, devices for introducing a combustion mixture into the cylinder, and an electrical igniting element operative for igniting the combustion mixture in the cylinder once per ignition cycle. An ignition transformer has a secondary winding connected across the igniting element, and also has a primary winding. A flow of current is established through the primary winding. An electronic switch is connected in the current path of the primary winding to control the flow of current through the primary winding. A triggering unit generates a train of crankshaft-synchronized triggering signals. A monostable control circuit has a trigger input for receipt of such triggering signals, and is operative when triggered into the unstable state for rendering and maintaining the electronic switch nonconductive for the duration of the unstable state, so as to interrupt the flow of current through the primary winding and induce across the secondary winding a voltage surge causing the igniting element to ignite the combustion mixture in the engine cylinder. When the monostable control circuit reverts to its stable state, it renders and maintains the electronic switch conductive for the duration of the stable state, whereby to establish a build-up of current flow in the primary winding in preparation for the next interruption of current flow. The monostable control circuit includes a timing stage operative for automatically .[.increasing.]. .Iadd.decreasing .Iaddend.the ratio of the duration of the unstable state to the duration of the ignition cycle with increasing engine speed within a predetermined range of engine speeds.

    摘要: To permit continued operation of a vehicle in spite of malfunction of an electronic ignition computer system, or any other electronic control module in an automotive vehicle, a transducer (10) provides an output to a trigger stage which has its output connected a digitally operating microprocessor (17) and to a bypass or transfer switch (21). The output from the microprocessor is connected to an analog and operating output stage (19, 20) to be controlled by the digital system of the microprocessor (17). Upon sensing of low operating voltage (U) as determined, for example, by a threshold switch (22), or of starting condition the switch (21) is closed, bypassing or interrupting connection to the microprocessor, and directly connecting signals from the transducer output stage to the input of the ignition circuit to permit operation under emergency conditions. The analog portion of the system is a single integrated module, separate from the digitally operating microprocessor (17) for ease of error diagnosis, maintenance and repair. This is particularly important with digitally operating control systems (17) which are subject to malfunction under low voltage conditions or upon occurrence of stray or distrubance signals in the network, for example under starting conditions.

A current-limiting circuit senses the current through the output switch and applies a signal to a circuit point which controls the discharging rate of the timing capacitor. The current-limiting circuit also prevents further increases in the primary coil current when a limiting value is reached.

    摘要: In a known ignition system, the emitter-collector circuit of the ignition transistor is connected in series with the primary winding of the ignition coil and with a precision resistor. When the voltage across the latter exceeds a predetermined value, an auxiliary transistor is switched to a conductive state. The emitter-collector circuit of the auxiliary transistor is connected to the base of the ignition transistor and, when conductive, prevents further increases of current through the primary winding of the ignition coil. To protect this circuit, a series circuit including two Zener diodes is connected between the base and collector of the ignition transistor. Further, a voltage divider is connected in parallel with the emitter-collector circuit of the ignition transistor and an additional resistor is connected between the base and the emitter thereof. When overvoltages across the primary winding cause breakdown of the Zener diodes, the current through the Zener diodes is blocked from the emitter-collector circuit of the auxiliary transistor either by a diode or by a blocking transistor having an emitter-collector circuit connected in parallel with the base-emitter circuit of the auxiliary transistor. The blocking transistor is maintained in the conductive state blocking the auxiliary transistor throughout the application time of an externally applied blocking signal which is adapted to maintain the ignition transistor in the blocked state.

    摘要: A monitoring resistor in series with the spark coil primary winding and the electronic interruptor switch provides a signal to an integrator for shifting the control thresholds of a threshold switch that controls the interruptor away from their quiescent values that are nearer the zero crossover of the timing voltage wave provided by an engine driven timing signal generator. The integrator output voltage remains constant during the time the interruptor switch is open. While current flows through the interruptor circuit, the integrator increases the control voltage until the primary winding current reaches a predetermined level and then decreases the control voltage until the timing wave recloses the interruptor. While the control voltage is being decreased, the coil current is allowed to rise to a limiting value and is then held constant by another circuit controlled by the monitoring resistor that slightly reduces the conductivity of the interruptor switch in its closed condition, but this occurs only while the engine is accelerating to the operating speed range. During this time the switch-on threshold for controlling the interruptor is raised towards the peak of the timing wave, but the switch-off threshold is clamped to its initial value. With further increase in engine speed, the net effect of the integrator operation changes sign and the switch-on threshold is lowered. As soon as the switch-on threshold goes below its initial value, the switch-off threshold is unclamped and is depressed along with the switch-on threshold towards the negative peak of the timing wave by the integrator action. The result is to keep the amount of energy stored in the spark coil at the time of primary circuit interruption constant over a wide range of speed.

    摘要: A switch connected in series with the ignition coil is "on" and "off," respectively, in the presence and absence of a pulse furnished by a pulse generator operating in synchronism with the crankshaft of the engine. If the pulse width of the pulses is too small for the current in the ignition coil to reach the minimum value required for ignition, the closing time of the series switch is advanced, while if the pulse width is too long, causing excess heat dissipation in the coil, the closing time of the switch is retarded. To accomplish this, a first digital counter counts downwards for a predetermined time and upwards for a time period in which the current in the ignition coil exceeds a predetermined current. Upon interruption of the current in the coil, the then-present value in the first digital counter is transferred to a second digital counter. The second counter then counts down at a predetermined rate until a predetermined count is reached. At this time, the series switch is switched to the conductive state.
