Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for frequency-domain optical interferometry imaging. Embodiments of the invention include an apparatus comprising a line-shaping optical element for directing optical radiation into a line illumination, an imaging optical element for receiving optical radiation comprising radiation reflected from a target sample and a reference point associated with the target sample, and a detection unit for measuring common path interferences between a plurality of reflections from the target sample and the reference point. Embodiments of the invention include a method comprising directing radiation into a line illumination, directing the line illumination towards a target sample, receiving radiation reflected from the target sample at a detection unit, and measuring common path interferences between a plurality of reflections at the target sample and a reference point.

Abstract: Provided are compositions comprising fusion proteins, polynucleotides and/or expression vectors with therapeutic utility for suppressing and/or treating cancer, as well as medical uses of these agents, and methods of treatment in which they are used. A fusion protein of the invention comprises an amino acid sequence that provides the apoptosis-inducing activity of TRAIL, and a membrane-anchoring amino acid sequence. The amino acid sequence that provides the apoptosis-inducing activity of TRAIL comprises the extracellular domain of TRAIL, or a fragment or variant thereof. A fusion protein comprising an amino acid sequence from TRAIL that is able to induce apoptosis, and a second sequence that anchors the first sequence to the cell membrane, is markedly more effective at reducing viability of TRAIL receptor positive cells than the naturally occurring (“wild type”) TRAIL protein itself.

Abstract: Porous materials (such as organic polyamine cage compounds) and methods of stabilising porous materials which are otherwise prone to pore-collapse are described. Such stabilisation is accomplished through the use of molecular ties to create bridges between reactive groups of a (potentially) porous material to thereby strengthen and stabilise the porous structure. The chemistry involved in, and the results of, the stabilisation of porous materials to provide a new sorption composition comprising the very materials which are generally prone to pore-collapse are also described.
