Abstract: A method of point cloud coding (PCC) including receiving encoded patch information data; obtaining a patch corresponding to the encoded patch information data, the patch having a patch type; determining whether the patch type for the patch is a last patch type; and terminating a reconstruction process corresponding to the encoded patch information data when the patch type is the last patch type. Another method includes the same receiving and obtaining steps, but determining whether the patch type for the patch is a skip patch type; decoding a reference patch index corresponding to the patch when the patch type is the skip patch type; determining a reference index for the patch based on a reference frame index corresponding to the patch and the reference patch index as decoded when the patch type is the skip patch type; and reconstructing a volumetric representation of the patch.

Abstract: Illumination compensation can be performed for inter prediction coding of a picture, e.g. for video encoding and decoding. The illumination compensation may include: obtaining inter-predicted sample values for a current block of the picture; obtaining a first target value and a second target value of neighboring samples from a set of neighboring samples of a reference block, wherein the set includes neighboring samples of at least one reference block of the current block, and obtaining corresponding positions A of the sample having the first target value and B of the sample having the second target value relative to the position of the reference block; obtaining respective values of neighboring samples of the current block at the obtained positions A and B relative to the position of the current block; obtaining values of updating parameters using the calculated values; and updating the inter-predicted sample values based on the updating parameters.

Abstract: An image processing device for use in an image encoder and/or an image decoder, for deblocking a block edge between a first block and a second block of an image encoded with a block code, is provided. The image processing device comprises a filter for filtering the block edge, configured to, for at least some of the pixels to be filtered, within a deblocking range from the block edge, the deblocking range being perpendicular to the block edge, determine a filtered pixel value from an original pixel value of the pixel and at least one further pixel value, determine a clipping value of the pixel, dependent upon a distance of the pixel from the block edge, and clip the filtered pixel value, using the clipping value resulting in a deblocked pixel value.

Abstract: A method of decoding a coded video bitstream is provided. The method includes receiving a bitstream containing an external decoder refresh (EDR) picture and a list of pictures for the EDR picture. The list of pictures lists pictures referred to by entries in a first reference picture list, pictures referred to by entries in a second reference picture list, and external pictures in increasing decoding order. A difference between picture order count values for any two consecutive pictures in the list of pictures is greater than one half of a negative of maximum picture order count least significant bits and less than one half of the maximum picture order count least significant bits. The method further includes obtaining an external picture from the the external pictures referred to in the list of pictures and decoding the EDR picture using the external picture that was obtained.

Abstract: Motion vectors (MVs) are used as predictors for prediction of an image for a current coding unit (CU) within a current video frame. The MVs are from a list of motion vector candidates (MVCs), which is generated. The list includes MVs determined from a first or second pattern, each pattern specifying MVC positions. The first MV positions are within a current video frame, while the second MV positions are for a video frame different from the current frame. The MVC list is generated for a current CU with the MV positions being relative to a position of the current CU. In particular, the MVC list is generated in dependence on a size of the current CU and a size of a grid specifying a minimum distance between two MV positions. One or more MVs as specified by the MV positions of said pattern are included into the MVC list.

Abstract: A mechanism for position dependent spatial varying transform (SVT) for video coding. A prediction block and a corresponding transformed residual block are received at a decoder. A type of spatial varying transform (SVT) employed to generate the transformed residual block is determined. A position of the SVT relative to the transformed residual block is also determined. An inverse of the SVT is applied to the transformed residual block to reconstruct a reconstructed residual block. The reconstructed residual block is then combined with the prediction block to reconstruct an image block.

Abstract: A video coding mechanism is disclosed. The mechanism includes receiving a bitstream comprising a slice and a luma mapping with chroma scaling (LMCS) adaptation parameter set (APS) including LMCS parameters. The mechanism further includes determining that the LMCS APS is referenced in data related to the slice. The mechanism further includes decoding the slice using LMCS parameters from the LMCS APS based on the reference to the LMCS APS. The mechanism further includes forwarding the slice for display as part of a decoded video sequence.
