Abstract:
A method of communication includes generating a traffic advertisement. The traffic advertisement indicates availability of data to be sent to multiple devices of a set of devices. The data includes first data to be sent to a first device and second data to be sent to a second device. The method also includes sending the traffic advertisement during a paging window. The method further includes receiving a first acknowledgement (ACK) during the paging window from the first device. The method also includes receiving a trigger message from the second device. The method further includes sending the first data to the first device during a data transmission window. The method also includes, in response to detecting receipt of the trigger message from the second device, sending the second data to the second device during the data transmission window without receiving a second ACK during the paging window from the second device.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving a service discovery frame at a first electronic device of a data link of a neighbor aware network (NAN). The service discovery frame may include an attribute identifying a subset of electronic devices of the data link as recipients of data from a second electronic device of the data link during a transmission window or identifying a time period of data announcements and timing information of data transmissions corresponding to the data link. The method also includes determining whether to monitor a wireless network corresponding to the data link during the transmission window based on the attribute.
Abstract:
Beacon-poll frames are transmitted from a station (STA) to a wireless AP in an opportunistic manner. In response to receiving a beacon-poll frame, the wireless AP transmits a unicast beacon frame to the STA, thereby eliminating the need for the STA to periodically wake up to receive broadcast beacon frames from the AP. The wireless AP may transmit the unicast beacon frame at a higher speed than a conventional broadcast beacon frame. As a result, the time that the STA must be awake to receive the unicast beacon frame is significantly less than the time that the STA must be awake to receive a conventional broadcast beacon frame, thereby resulting in significant power savings within the STA. The wireless AP may aggregate downlink (DL) data packets to be transmitted to the STA with the unicast beacon frame, resulting in further power savings within the STA.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for optimization of message transmission intervals in a NAN are described herein. In one aspect, a method for discovering a cluster of STA's forming a NAN is provided. The method includes generating a NAN beacon at an access point (AP). The NAN beacon includes timing information for the NAN. The timing information indicates a first time interval when one or more messages can be transmitted within the NAN. The method further includes transmitting the NAN beacon.
Abstract:
A method includes generating a paging message at a first device of a data link group of a neighbor aware network (NAN). The paging message includes a paged device list. The paged device list identifies a subset of devices of the data link group, the subset of devices scheduled to receive data from the first device during a transmission window. The paging message includes a receiver address field having a particular receiver address value. The method also includes transmitting, during the paging window, the paging message from to at least one device of the data link group other than the first device.
Abstract:
A method of communication includes transmitting a message from a first electronic device of a neighbor aware network (NAN) to a second electronic device of the NAN via a first communication channel of a plurality of communication channels during a discovery window. The message indicates that the first electronic device is available to communicate. The method also includes monitoring a second communication channel of the plurality of communication channels during a first paging window of a transmission window. The first paging window includes a beginning portion of the transmission window, and electronic devices of the NAN are in an active state during the first paging window.
Abstract:
A method includes transmitting, from an electronic device in a neighbor awareness network (NAN) via a first wireless protocol, a wake up message indicating discovery information associated with a second wireless protocol. The method further includes communicating information via the NAN using the second wireless protocol after transmitting the wake up message.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for synchronizing a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The method includes receiving one or more synchronization messages, each synchronization message having timing information and a cluster identifier, the timing information comprising anchor timing information, the cluster identifier being the same value as a cluster identifier of the apparatus. The method further includes determining whether a difference between a time value when a received synchronization message last received anchor timing information and a time value maintained for the apparatus is greater than a threshold. The method further includes discarding the received synchronization message if the difference exceeds the threshold.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of limiting wireless discovery range. A transmitting device may limit wireless discovery range by adjusting one or more transmission attributes of a discovery message, measuring inter-device distance based on range determination messages, or any combination thereof. A receiving device may limit wireless discovery range based on one or more attributes of a received discovery message, measuring inter-device distance based on range determination messages, or any combination thereof. Discovery messages may include a range adaptation bit indicating whether range adaptation is to be performed.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a wireless communications device. The device may use several antennas to receive a signal, one of which may be shared between two radios. During signal reception, a radio may detect when the shared antenna is abruptly taken over by the other radio. The radio may detect the loss of the antenna by measuring an impedance mismatch. Alternatively, the radio may reference an antenna switch control that is used to facilitate the switch. After detection, the radio may recover from the antenna loss by adjusting signal processing. For example, the radio may modify a maximal ratio combining (MRC) operation. In certain examples, the device may disregard the signal version from the shared antenna in the computation of MRC weights. In some cases, the device may interrupt an MRC weight computation and use MRC weights from a previous calculation.
