Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for setting a reference picture index of a temporal merging candidate. An inter-picture prediction method using a temporal merging candidate can include the steps of: determining a reference picture index for a current block; and inducing a temporal merging candidate block of the current block and calculating a temporal merging candidate from the temporal merging candidate block, wherein the reference picture index of the temporal merging candidate can be calculated regardless of whether a block other than the current block is decoded. Accordingly, a video processing speed can be increased and video processing complexity can be reduced.

Abstract: An image decoding method is disclosed in the present specification. An image decoding method according to the present invention may comprise deriving a candidate list for inter-prediction of a current block, deriving motion information of the current block by using the candidate list, deriving a cumulative coding information candidate by using the motion information of the current block, inserting the derived cumulative coding information candidate into a cumulative coding information candidate list and updating the candidate list by using the cumulative coding information candidate list, wherein the updated candidate list is used for inter-prediction of a block to be decoded after the current block.

Abstract: Disclosed are an image encoding method using a skip mode and a device using the method. The image encoding method may comprise the steps of: judging whether there is residual block data of a prediction target block on the basis of predetermined data indicating whether residual block data has been encoded; and, if there is residual block data, restoring the prediction target block on the basis of the residual block data and an intra-screen predictive value of the prediction target block. Consequently, encoding and decoding efficiency can be increased by carrying out the encoding and decoding of screen residual data only for prediction target blocks where there is a need for a residual data block in accordance with screen similarity.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an image encoding/decoding method. The method of decoding the image includes structuring a motion information candidate list of a current block, selecting a first motion information candidate used for prediction of a first subblock in the current block from the motion information candidate list, selecting a second motion information candidate used for prediction of a second subblock in the current block from the motion information candidate list, generating a prediction sample of the first subblock by performing inter prediction with respect to the first subblock based on the first motion information candidate, and generating a prediction sample of the second subblock by performing inter prediction with the second subblock based on the second motion information candidate. The first motion information candidate is any one of candidates in a first prediction direction in the motion information candidate list, and the second motion information candidate is any one of candidates in a second prediction direction in the motion information candidate list.
