Abstract: A method for wireless communication may include receiving a communication and determining an acknowledgement signature for an acknowledgment in response to the communication. The acknowledgment signature may allow for authentication with the transmitting wireless device. The acknowledgment signature may be based on a key shared with the wireless device. An acknowledgement frame (e.g., acknowledging reception of the communication) may then be sent to the transmitting wireless device. The content of the acknowledgement may be based on the acknowledgement signature. For example, the signature may be included in a frame control, duration, or address field. Determining the acknowledgement signature may include determining a unique signature based on information from the received communication (e.g., a cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), the shared key, and/or a hash function. In some cases, the acknowledgement frame may include an encryption header, and a message integrity check may be included as the acknowledgement signature.

Abstract: Systems and methods for communication in a wireless network are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes generating a medium access control (MAC) address for a first group of wireless devices, storing the MAC address for the first group of wireless devices in an address field of a first message, and transmitting, by a first wireless device of the first group of wireless devices, the first message to a second wireless device of the first group of wireless devices. In some aspects, the wireless network comprises a neighbor aware network (NAN). In some aspects, a wireless device may be able to determine a method of encryption or decryption for the first message based at least in part on the MAC address for the first group of wireless devices.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer program products for transmitting and receiving discovery messages in a wireless communication device are described herein. One aspect of the subject matter described in the disclosure provides a method of discovering devices in a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving a first discovery message from a first device of a device cluster comprising a plurality of devices during a first discovery interval. The first discovery message includes information associated with the device cluster. The method further includes transmitting a discovery trigger message in response to the first discovery message. The method further includes receiving a second discovery message from at least one device of device cluster during a second discovery interval. The second discovery message is configured to advertise a plurality of services provided by the at least one device of the device cluster in response to the discovery trigger message.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a relay provides relay services for network communication between a first station and a second station. In one aspect, the relay may receive data packets sent to the second station by the first station, and retransmit the data packets if it determines that the second station has not acknowledged the data packet. In one other aspect, the first station may be configured to transmit a relay-able acknowledgement that includes a sequence number identifying data being acknowledged. The relay may be configured to receive a transmission of a first relay-able acknowledgement by the first station and retransmit a second relay-able acknowledgement if it determines the second station did not receive the first relay-able acknowledgement sent by the first station. In some aspects, the second station is an access point.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for network setup in wide channel WLANs are provided. Techniques for co-existence of 20 MHz and 40 MHz networks (e.g., as defined by IEEE 802.11n) may be extended to 80 MHz and 160 MHz networks. For example, a primary channel of an existing network may be designated as the primary channel of a new network. Further, a primary channel of the existing network may not be used as a secondary channel in the new network. Intolerance operation between networks may include a first network releasing one or more channels in response to an intolerance indication received from a second network. Furthermore, in response to the intolerance indication from the second network, the first network may utilize one or more channels for communicating in the first network using a first set of access parameters. The access parameters may depend on the intolerance indication.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for synchronizing a global time reference for access points over the air are provided. In one aspect, a method for synchronizing a global time of an access point comprises receiving a message comprising a global time indication from a second access point. The method further includes updating the global time of the access point to the global time indication from the second access point by updating a timer of the access point by an increment not to exceed a predetermined value selected small enough to ensure a maintenance of synchronization between the access point and at least one associated wireless station. The global time of the access point is updated to the global time indication from the second access point when the global time indication from the second access point indicated a later global time than the global time of the access point.

Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a network node, a device-to-device D2D discovery request from a first device and sending a D2D discovery response from the network node to the first device. The D2D discovery response includes information associated with a second device that is available to establish a D2D connection with the first device. The network node may perform inquiries regarding D2D connection permission from both devices. If D2D connection is permitted by both devices, the network node may facilitate the D2D scanning by sending each device's scanning information to the other device via a non-D2D link. In parallel to D2D scanning, the network node may speed up D2D link setup by distributing, via non-D2D links, link setup information to each device, where the link setup information may include device credential(s), IP address allocation(s), and/or group owner assignment.
