摘要: In various respects, hardware-accelerated decoding is adapted for decoding of video that has been encoded using scalable video coding. For example, for a given picture to be decoded, a host decoder determines whether a corresponding base picture will be stored for use as a reference picture. If so, the host decoder directs decoding with an accelerator such that the some of the same decoding operations can be used for the given picture and the reference base picture. Or, as another example, the host decoder groups encoded data associated with a given layer representation in buffers. The host decoder provides the encoded data for the layer to the accelerator. The host decoder repeats the process layer-after-layer in the order that layers appear in the bitstream, according to a defined call pattern for an acceleration interface, which helps the accelerator determine the layers with which buffers are associated.

摘要: An entropy encoding method includes following steps: receiving symbols of a pixel group; entropy encoding data derived from the symbols of the pixel group to generate a first bitstream portion and a second bitstream portion, wherein the first bitstream portion includes encoded magnitude data of the symbols of the pixel group, and the second bitstream portion includes encoded sign data of at least a portion of the symbols of the pixel group; and generating a bitstream segment of the pixel group by combining at least the first bitstream portion and the second bitstream portion. The pixel group includes a plurality of pixels, and the symbols of the pixel group have a plurality of symbol values of the pixels, respectively. When a first symbol value has a zero magnitude value, a sign value of the first symbol value is not entropy encoded into the second bitstream portion.

摘要: The entropy coding of a current part of a predetermined entropy slice is based on, not only, the respective probability estimations of the predetermined entropy slice as adapted using the previously coded part of the predetermined entropy slice, but also probability estimations as used in the entropy coding of a spatially neighboring, in entropy slice order preceding entropy slice at a neighboring part thereof. Thereby, the probability estimations used in entropy coding are adapted to the actual symbol statistics more closely, thereby lowering the coding efficiency decrease normally caused by lower-delay concepts. Temporal interrelationships are exploited additionally or alternatively.

摘要: An image compression method based on JPEG-LS is presented. In the method, the M×N pixels in the source image are divided into k groups. M, N, and k are all integers larger than one. Each group corresponds to a plurality of pixels among the M×N pixels. The decorrelation procedure and the context modeling procedure are performed for each of the plurality of pixels in the ith group of the k groups. The compensation look-up table is not refreshed until all pixels in the ith group are performed with the decorrelation procedure and the context modeling procedure.

The video encoder includes a plurality of video processing engines communicatively coupled with each other. Each video processing engine receives a tile of the plurality of tiles. A height of each tile is equal to a height of the frame and each tile comprises a plurality of rows. The plurality of video processing engines includes a first and a second video processing engine. The second video processing engine being initiated after the first video processing engines processes M rows of the plurality of rows of the tile, where M is an integer.

摘要: Video decoding innovations for multithreading implementations and graphics processor unit (“GPU”) implementations are described. For example, for multithreaded decoding, a decoder uses innovations in the areas of layered data structures, picture extent discovery, a picture command queue, and/or task scheduling for multithreading. Or, for a GPU implementation, a decoder uses innovations in the areas of inverse transforms, inverse quantization, fractional interpolation, intra prediction using waves, loop filtering using waves, memory usage and/or performance-adaptive loop filtering. Innovations are also described in the areas of error handling and recovery, determination of neighbor availability for operations such as context modeling and intra prediction, CABAC decoding, computation of collocated information for direct mode macroblocks in B slices, reduction of memory consumption, implementation of trick play modes, and picture dropping for quality adjustment.

摘要: A video decoder decoding an encoded stream includes a parallel entropy decoding part to entropy decode the stream of blocks in block lines in parallel, a parallel QP prediction part to compute prediction values of the blocks in the block lines in parallel, and a parallel decoding processing part to generate decoded pixels of the blocks in the block lines in parallel, the decoded pixel being obtained utilizing data decoded by the parallel entropy decoding part and the prediction value. When performing computing processing in parallel per unit of N block lines, the processing is performed on a processing block in a (K−1)th block line preceding a processing block in a Kth block line by at least one block in a horizontal position to compute the prediction value of the processing block by referring to a block already processed corresponding to the processing block.
