    摘要: A pressure regulating device for use with a breathing assistance and/or resuscitation apparatus, which conveys gases along a gases pathway to a patient, includes a mounting for connecting the pressure regulating device to a first outlet in fluid communication with the gases pathway. The mounting holds a valve member that selectively blocks, at least in part, the first outlet. A control member can be manipulated to adjust a property of the valve member. The valve member at least partially blocks the first outlet when the pressure of gases in the pathway is below a selected level, and allows at least a portion of the gases to flow out of the first outlet when the pressure of said gases is above the selected level. The property includes a selected level of pressure whereby manipulation of the control member adjusts the level of pressure between a maximum level and a minimum level.

    摘要: A device for the treatment of pneumothorax especially in neonates, which facilitates the simple one-hand introduction of a catheter-sheathed stylet through the chest wall and which contains a one-way valve outside the chest for the stat evacuation of the intrathoracic air or fluid. The device is capable of secure fixation to the chest wall until deemed no longer needed at which point it is quickly removable. The thoracic cavity is entered by a stylet which is surrounded by a catheter, the catheter lumen continuous with that of a lumenized dome which communicates with at least one upper port and one-way valving. One port is configured to allow Luer-Lok suction in the event of pleural effusion or hemothorax.

The housing includes an input port communicating with the interior chamber and a delivery port positioned on an inner periphery of the housing. The delivery port is in fluid communication between the interior chamber and the central open space. The delivery port is spaced from the input port, which is adapted to receive an aerosolized medicament. In another aspect, a kit includes an outer ring-like housing component and a plurality of differently configured inner ring-like housing components mateable with the outer ring-like housing to form a holding chamber. A method of delivering an inhalable substance includes positioning a nose and a mouth of a user in a central opening defined by a ring-like housing, inhaling through the nose, and orally soothing the user with a soothing device located in the central opening.
