Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. In one method, a method of wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a synchronization signal. The synchronization signal may be common to a plurality of cells within a network. The method further includes acquiring a timing of the network based on the synchronization signal, and transmitting a pilot signal in response to acquiring the timing of the network. The pilot signal may identify the UE and be concurrently receivable by the plurality of cells within the network. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates in some aspects to techniques for improved channel estimation. For example, a device can specify a pilot structure where pilot density differs over time. As another example, a device can indicate that a pilot from a prior transmission time interval (TTI) can be used for channel estimation. As another example, a device can employ frequency domain physical resource block (PRB) bundling with the bundling information signaling. As yet another example, a device can use an adjustable traffic-to-pilot ratio (TPR) for throughput optimization. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also discussed and claimed.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and apparatus select a code book based on channel conditions and performance of a demodulator or demapper in a wireless receiver. The method may include determining that the receiver in a first wireless communication apparatus is configured for iteratively processing signals received from a channel, selecting a code book for use in communicating over the channel based on conditions affecting transmission of the signals through the channel and performance information associated with a demapper in the receiver, and identifying the selected code book in one or more control channels transmitted to a second wireless communication apparatus.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) and a base station operating in unlicensed spectrum may temporarily increase a paging opportunity window (POW) size, or reduce a time between POWs, in order to meet performance metrics or account for time periods when a base station is unable to win access to the wireless medium during a POW. In some cases, a UE may identify a failed listen-before-talk procedure and autonomously update the POW size. In other examples, a base station may initiate a change in POW size or increase a number of paging opportunities in order to meet achieve one or more key performance indicators (KPIs). After a predetermined period, or after a triggering condition is no longer present, the UE and the base station may reset the POW size or the number of paging opportunities to a nominal amount to conserve power.
Abstract:
Certain example embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques for joint transmission of channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) from multiple transmission points (TPs) for channel state feedback and/or TP selection. An example method generally includes coordinating with one or more other TPs to jointly transmit a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) to a user equipment (UE); signaling a reporting restriction to the UE; receiving precoding matrix indicator (PMI) feedback from the UE based on the jointly transmitted CSI-RS and subject to the reporting restriction; and selecting one or more of the TPs to serve based on the PMI feedback.
Abstract:
Device detection in networks with mixed mobility devices is discussed. Devices in the network first determine a discovery mode from a plurality of discovery modes, wherein the determining is based on a mobility state of the wireless device. The device identifies a set of resources associated with the determined discovery mode, wherein each of the plurality of discovery modes is provisioned with separate resources. A discovery signal is transmitted using the identified set of resources according to the discovery mode. Thus, devices with higher mobility will generally send discovery signals more often than devices that are static or semi-static.
Abstract:
Techniques for optimized cell acquisition for long term evolution (LTE) time division duplex (TDD) systems or closed subscriber group (CSG)/evolved Multicast Broadcast Multimedia Service (eMBMS) capable user equipments (UEs) are disclosed. A UE obtains configuration information, CSG capability information, and/or eMBMS capability information for a cell. The UE also stores the obtained information for the cell in a cell information database. In some aspects, the UE may employ the CSG and/or eMBMS capability information to select a weaker cell, during initial frequency scan at power up of the UE, based on cell capability. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may employ the configuration information to determine an initial mutual information (Mi) hypothesis value for physical hybrid-automatic repeat request (HART) indicator channel (PHICH) group mapping of the cell. Additionally or alternative, radio link failures and/or out of synch events may be predicted and proactive responses employed based on previously obtained solutions.
Abstract:
Techniques for communication are disclosed. A method may include selecting from a subframe two or more resource elements for control signaling, wherein the subframe includes a plurality of symbol periods and each symbol period includes a plurality of resource elements, wherein the selected two or more resource elements are associated with a concurrent symbol period, and transmitting a resource allocation message to an access terminal, wherein the resource allocation message indicates that the selected two or more resource elements are allocated for control signaling.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for wireless communication are provided. In an aspect, the method includes receiving a plurality of channel quality reports based on a multiple description coding schedule and determining a transmission parameter based on the plurality of channel quality reports. In another aspect, the method includes receiving a family of codebooks organized based on a transmission rank, and reporting, using a multiple description coding scheme, a channel quality parameter using a codebook entry from the family of codebooks.
Abstract:
Bursty interference or puncturing may be identified, either by a user equipment (UE) or by a base station. In response, a protection scheme may be applied to protect communications from the bursty interference or puncturing. The protection scheme may include using both time and frequency interleaving of code blocks in the communications. The protection scheme may also include modifying the modulation and coding scheme (MCS), coding rate, precoding matrix index (PMI), or rank indicator (RI) used in the communications. The protection scheme may also include using a universal low-density parity check (LDPC) code in the transmission of the communications.
