摘要: A method for controlling an amount of power delivered to an electrical load may include controlling an average magnitude of a load current towards a target load current that ranges from a maximum-rated current to a minimum-rated current in a normal mode and controlling the average magnitude of the load current below the minimum-rated current in a burst mode. The burst mode may include at least one burst-mode period that comprises a first time period associated with an active state and a second time period associated with an inactive state. During the burst mode, the method may include regulating a peak magnitude of the load current towards the minimum-rated current during the active state and stopping the generation of at least one drive signal during the inactive state to control the average magnitude of the load current to be less than the minimum-rated current.

摘要: A floating-rail voltage generator and method are provided for use in a switched regulator. Generally, the generator includes a floating-rail reference generator, a current-sinking buffer and a current-sink. The reference generator is operable to generate a reference voltage (VSSHV_REF) equal to an input voltage (VBAT) minus 1.8 V for VBAT between 1.8V and 4.8V, and equal to 0V for VBAT less than 1.8V. The buffer is coupled between VBAT and ground, and operable to receive the VSSHV_REF and generate a continuous floating-rail voltage (VSSHV) on a floating-rail for VBAT between 1.6V and 4.8V. The current-sink is operable to receive VSSHV_REF and VSSHV, and to turn on a current sinking switch coupled between the floating-rail and ground by setting a set-reset latch having a latch output coupled to a gate of the current sinking switch when a transient load current signal is received from a load coupled to the floating-rail.

摘要: A common-mode current sensor system and method for a traction inverter of an electric hybrid vehicle. The system and method detects/reduces excess common-mode currents that can be caused by the presence of alternating current (AC)-chassis type short circuit faults at the outputs of an inverter used for driving a two or more-phased load. In an embodiment, the system detects the presence of an AC-chassis fault of any varying strength, e.g., weak, medium, hard, in respective parallel paths. The system and method can isolate a particular AC-chassis type fault to a particular phase leg of the inverter thereby obviating a need of having to shut-down and/or re-program each phase leg of the whole power supply and vehicle operation. Rather, upon detecting a chassis short, a fault signal is asserted to control shutting down of one or more inverter switches without having to shut-down the vehicle or negatively impact the vehicle status.

摘要: A control circuit is applied to a system provided with a rotary electric machine, a power converter electrically connected to a winding of the rotary electric machine, a power source, a cutoff switch provided on an electrical path that connects the power source and the power converter, and a storage unit. The control circuit is provided with a failure determination unit that determines whether a failure occurs in the system and a regeneration prevention unit that prevents a power regeneration, where a current flows from a rotary electric machine side towards a storage unit side, from occurring. In the case where the failure determination unit determines that a failure occurs in the system, the cutoff switch is turned OFF after the regeneration prevention unit prevents an occurrence of the power regeneration.
