Abstract: A light source driver circuit has a switching regulator including a voltage input, a voltage output, and a regulation input; a current source with a switching element and a voltage-controllable member arranged in series with the light source load. A pulse signal is applied to a control terminal of the switching element to connect, in a first switching state of the switching element, a control terminal of the voltage-controllable member to a voltage source and in a second switching state of the switching element not to connect the control terminal of the voltage-controllable member to the voltage source; and a regulation unit. An optical measuring instrument includes a light source driver circuit, a device checks value documents with the light source driver circuit, and a method is provided for operating a light source load with the light source driver circuit.

Abstract: A power converter circuit may include a control circuit configured to generate a drive signal for rendering a semiconductor switch conductive and non-conductive to generate a bus voltage across a bus capacitor. The control circuit may adjust a minimum operating period of the drive signal to a first value when an output power of the power converter circuit is greater than a first threshold and to a second value when the output power is less than a second threshold. The control circuit may comprise a comparator that generates the drive signal in response to a sense voltage and a threshold voltage. When operating in a standby mode, the control circuit may adjust a magnitude of the threshold voltage based on an instantaneous magnitude of an alternating-current line voltage received by the power converter circuit, such that an input current drawn by the power converter circuit is sinusoidal.

The LED control system is simple in implementation, low in cost, and high in reliability.

Abstract: A load control device for controlling the intensity of a lighting load, such as a light-emitting diode (LED) light source, may include a power converter circuit operable to receive a rectified AC voltage and to generate a DC bus voltage, a load regulation circuit operable to receive the bus voltage and to control the magnitude of a load current conducted through the lighting load, and a control circuit operatively coupled to the load regulation circuit for pulse width modulating or pulse frequency modulating the load current to control the intensity of the lighting load to a target intensity. The control circuit may control the intensity of the lighting load by pulse width modulating the load current when the target intensity is above a predetermined threshold and control the intensity of the lighting load by pulse frequency modulating the load current when the target intensity is below the predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A method for controlling an amount of power delivered to an electrical load may include controlling an average magnitude of a load current towards a target load current that ranges from a maximum-rated current to a minimum-rated current in a normal mode, and controlling the average magnitude of the load current below the minimum-rated current in a burst mode. The burst mode may include at least one burst-mode period that comprises a first time period associated with an active state and a second time period associated with an inactive state. During the burst mode, the method may include regulating a peak magnitude of the load current towards the minimum-rated current during the active state, and stopping the generation of at least one drive signal during the inactive state to control the average magnitude of the load current to be less than the minimum-rated current.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for operating DC-DC regulators such as LED drivers. Various embodiments herein allow a DC-DC regulator to switch between buck mode and buck-boost mode without suffering effects otherwise resulting from transient currents when switching between modes. In certain embodiments, this is accomplished by operating the DC-DC regulator in a buck-boost mode to charge a boost capacitor with a substantially constant inductor current. The inductor current is also used to control a set of switches to operate the DC-DC regulator in a buck mode to drive a load by using the capacitor as a power source.

Abstract: A display device and a display control method. A power adjustment module is provided in a power supply circuit of a display device. The power adjustment module transmits energy between voltages outputted by a power supply circuit respectively to a main board and an LED light strip, such that the voltages provided by the power supply circuit to the main board and the LED light strip are within respective preset voltage ranges, and no large adjustments to voltage values are required. Therefore, the working efficiency of the entire power supply circuit can be improved, and the costs of the power supply circuit and the display device are reduced.
